  We love touring in Madeira, but unfortunately, the weather was not great. I had requested an English speaking tour guide, but unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances he wasn’t able to make it and they sent a Portuguese speaking tour guide, which was difficult for us to understand, but he did try his best by translating through the iPhone. He was very gracious & understanding. He continually apologize for the weather, which was not his fault at all, and we said there was no problem at all.

  I think your experience of the tour is partly influenced by the tour guide and here we were very lucky. Our guide drove perfectly, considerate and gave us plenty of time to experience. He was obviously very proud of “his” island and very happy to share his great knowledge. Thanks for a great trip - clear recommendation from here

  A 4h visit to have a more than enough view of Funchal and surroundings. The taxi driver who attended us was great, despite not speaking perfectly Spanish is more than enough for explanations. It gives you the right spin so you can get an idea of what Funchal is and stay eager to return. Despite the time he worried that we would visit all the areas and even some additional.   We had such a good time with David. He was so much fun. This tour of Madeira was impressive we got a great comprehensive tour of the island stopping at all the historic spots and some with less tourists. We had lots of time to shop for souvenirs. David made great suggestions for souvenirs to remind us of our time on the island. I would book this tour again. Loved it and will be talking about our time with David for a long time. He is a great ambassador for the island. Thanks again.

  We had a very pleasant trip. The Driver Alexandre was always available for our inquiries and even to change the route when we requested. Without a doubt a great experience.

  Best tour and Guide in Madeira. He took us to all the tourist places. He also gave us time to buy souvenirs. We would take this tour again.

  Princess Cruises were very bad in getting us off the ship (over 30 minutes late). We ended up being well past our pickup time but our guide (Alexandre) kept reassuring us not to worry he was waiting for us. Once off we were whisked away in a very well maintained vehicle. He took us to all the locations listed in his itinerary and then some! He made sure we were always ahead of the crowds so we could enjoy the sights. We wanted to go to Valley of the Nuns which he happily did. He also offered us the opportunity to visit a small family owned bar that offered "Ponchas" made with Madeira rum. They were delicious. It was a unique experience not to be missed when in Madeira. We also wanted to sample authentic Portuguese Custard tarts. He took us to his favourite place that only made these tarts and they did not disappoint. Best tarts EVER! Unfortunately it was a holiday the day we were there but Alexandre tools us through the old town and to the markets so we could have a feel for the area. Alexandre was so obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Please remember we started our tour half late and yet he gave us our whole time and more. He dropped us off at the ship with lots of time to spare. He was such a great ambassador for his island that we plan to use him again next year when we visit to explore farther a field the places we didn't have time to see this visit. I would recommend Alexander's tour company 110%. Great job Alexandre and congrats on your engagement!!
