What To Expect

Acropolis

Your guide will meet you right by the entrance of the site, and will start ascending with you to the top of the hill, finding the best spots on the way up to stop and help you visualize the Golden Age of Pericles which was when most of the monuments on the hill were built. Climbing up you will see and hear explanations about the Filopappos hill, the Herodium odeon, the Dionysius theatre, the Pnyx hill - birthplace of Democracy and the Areopagus hill. Stopping before the Propylaea, you will have an excellent view of the temple of Wingless Nike and the Ancient Agora, where Socrates, Plato and Aristotle introduced great philosophical schools. Walking through the Propylaea you will reach the top and you will see the breathtaking Parthenon and the Erechtheion temple opposite it, where the Karyatides stood instead of columns to support the roof.

Acropolis Museum

The New Acropolis Museum is characterized as one of the best museums in the world and there you will see parts of the excavations of the ancient city through its glass floor, an amazing exhibition of "Kores" and "Kouroi" statues, the Karyatides e.t.c. As you will be ascending the different levels of the museum, you will reach the top floor, all glass, where admiring the remaining pediments and frieze of the Parthenon, you will also have an excellent view of the Parthenon itself.

We had a walking tour. Our guide spoke english well and we had ear pieces so we could hear really well. It was very helpful! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the tour. If you go in late July, make sure you go to the acropolis early. It's extremely hot and crowded.
Excellent four hour tour and guide. A highlight of our Greece trip!

My husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage with a trip to Greece last fall. We scheduled a private tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum with Olympic Day Tours through Niki. Her name came highly recommended by friends of ours who also enjoyed a private tour earlier last summer. Niki's communication was prompt and very thorough. Our tour guide, Kostas, was a delight. Full of knowledge, easy to talk with, and guided us through the busy and sometimes chaotic Acropolis with ease. Our 4 hours was never a bore and full of knowledge and history. I highly recommend Olympic Day Tours and will call on them again next time we visit.

We were a group of 4 couples - long time friends traveling to Greece and other locations for the first time. My husband and I are fans of Rick Steves, and rely on his experience and expertise to guide some of our travel. Niki's tour was a recommendation from Rick - and once again, he was spot on. We had two Katerinas (hopefully I'm spelling their name correctly) - one was our main guide and knew a lot about modern Greece, and the other was our guide for the Acropolis Hill and museum and knew a lot about ancient Greece. Both guides were fun, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to know. Katerina that took us through the hill and museum knew her way around, got us through the crowds expertly, and read our group very well in knowing where to pause and where to move a little faster. She had great recommendations for photo ops. Katerina that was our bus guide pointed out sites and gave information we wouldn't have found on our own, especially since we were only in Athens for the day. She joined us for a fantastic lunch as well. We would highly recommend Niki and her team for their tours of Greece. The entire group agreed we had a great day. Thank you Niki and team!!

Thank you Niki and Dimitri for making one of my dream vacations one of the best experiences. Dimitri responded to all of my emails and answered my questions and concerns in a timely manner. We went to 3 different islands and had a great experience on each. We did a walking tour from our hotel in Athens to the Acropolis hill and museum. Viki was a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide who was We learned a lot from her. She even showed us a great place to get a great authentic Greek lunch. We also had a great experience in Santorini with our driver Gabriel. He was also a very friendly and informative tour guide. He took us to all the top sites and showed us a nice place on the beach for lunch. For our stop in Mykonos Carina our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the island. We saw and learned a lot and had an overall great experience on our vacation. I definitely recommend Olympic tours and will definitely use them again in the future.

My grandson (14) and I have so many wonderful memories to look back on thanks to Niki and Dimitris at Olympic Tours. In planning our trip, we told Dimitris what we wanted to do while in Greece, and he arranged everything for us. We appreciated him listening and everything was perfect. Dimitris arranged the best of the best as our private driver. Kyriakos. His car was a luxury Mercedes sedan that was immaculate. This was his office and he provided us with bottled water and snacks. We spent two whole days with him driving us to Delphi, Arachova, Ancient Sparta, Ancient Corinth and stopping at the Corinth Canal on the way back to Athens. Kyriakos provided us with informative information as we passed by things. He spoke excellent English. He was excellent in introducing us to our private licensed tour guides in the places that we went. He had all the details worked out as to where and what time to meet the guides. All of our guides spoke very good English. All of the guides were very knowledgeable about the history of the sites we were visiting. We felt like we were stepping back in time with our visits to each site. Our first day in Athens, Dimitris had arranged for Chrysa to meet us first thing in the morning at the Art Gallery Hotel to take us on a 6-hour Walking Tour of Athens (Acropolis Hill, New Acropolis Museum, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the temple of Athens Nike and Ancient Agora). This was a trip of a lifetime and look forward to visiting Greece again. I would highly recommend Olympic Tours by Niki to anyone that is planning a trip to Greece. Thanks for the Memories! Niki accommodated us for a last minute private tour of the Acropolis. My family of four includes 2 adults, a 12 yr old, and a 16 yr old, and our tour guide kept all of us engaged. Dimitris was very knowledgeable and was able to provide cultural and historical context for all of the sites. He was amazing! Highly recommend a private tour (vs large group tour) of the Acropolis in particular.

Niki planned the entire trip itinerary for our weeklong Greek vacation from Athens, to Kalambaka and Meteora, to Delphi, and Olympia. All tours were arranged, expert guides provided, and every need taken care of. She herself was so very friendly and helpful, extremely knowledgeable about the Acropolis and museum in Athens. Not only did we have a great time, we made a new friend. 👍🏻🙂 Can’t wait until we can bring our kids next time!
