Let's first stop at the Mont Dore fountain, then we cross the mountain range to reach the east coast and the village of Yaté (possible stop at the Blue River Park). We then cross the coast to the south with a stop at Gîte Yia and then in the village of Touaourou and its pretty colonial church, another stop near the village of Goro towards an incredible waterfall.
On the way back we will stop at the Madeleine Falls for a photo and maybe a swim before returning to Noumea.

I have just completed the Albatross tour "Italy, The deep south and Sicily". A special thanks to our fantastic guide Helen, whose knowledge, fierce protection of us all, especially on crossings and pushy people and her enthusiasm, which brought each place alive before we arrived, was exemplary. Our bus driver, who I had on the previous tour, Enver, navigated windy roads and fitted the bus into places by a hair's breadth; never ceased to amaze me. He was a kind and considerate man to our needs. Their warmth and professionalism made my trip seamless. The itinerary was well planned. We experienced incredible, stunning scenery, delicious food, and so much rich history that you thought could not get any better, but it did. The hilltop towns, the beauty of the coast and the charming villages all enriched the experience. This was my third Albatross tour, and I cannot speak more highly of them. We had 19 on this tour. It was a great number with wonderful companions. I have done two other tours which backed onto this tour. One the, Etruscans with Prisca and Enver, and then the Italian Grande with Christina and Paula. All amazing guides and bus drivers, and tour highlights. Worth every cent!

This what I certainly wanted to see and what I highly recommend, when visiting New Caledonia. Nature is simply different and stunning 💯

The weather was terrible with very heavy rain in the south but Evan the driver was very flexible. We saw the waterfall ( Chutes de Madeleine) and then Evan took us back to Noumea where it was cloudy but not raining. He took us to a nice viewing spot, to a good barista cafe and then to the Aquarium and the Maritime Museum. It turned out to be a good day despite the rain in the south.

We highly recommend this tour to New Caledonia's Deep South - a vast area of widely different landscapes, from rain forest to dry scrub and even quite arid areas. The Blue River (photo) and giant Kauri pine forest are especially good, but the area is so large, you really need at least two days to see it properly. Annie was a wonderful driver and tour guide, with lots of really good cultural insights, which made our day very special.
