Penang Hills
Penang Hill is the oldest British hill station in Southeast Asia, dated late 1700's. Ride the steep funicular railway up Penang Hill. Enjoy panoramic views across the island and explore the historic British hill station, dating back to the 18th century.
Kek Lok Si Temple
Staggered on hillside terraces overlooking Air Itam, Malaysia's largest Buddhist temple is a visual delight. Built between 1890 and 1905, Kek Lok Si is the cornerstone of the Malay-Chinese community, which provided the funding for its two-decade-long construction (and ongoing additions). Its key features are the seven-tier Thousand-Buddha Pagoda and an awesome 36.5 meters-high bronze statue of Goddess of Mercy. To reach the temple's main entrance, you'll have to run the gauntlet of souvenir stalls on the uphill path. You'll also pass a pond packed with turtles. There are a lot of stairs involved, but the final stretch up to the statute of Goddess of Mercy is covered by a funicular.

Our guide Phillip was incredible! Very knowledgeable and willing to share his home town with us! We were fortunate to have a clear day and also got up to the top of the Hill very fast which meant we had some spare time for a fresh sugar cane juice and a visit to Penang White Coffee which was a total bonus! Highly recommend booking this tour (or any other with this company).

Philip was a fabulous guide and driver and gave us lots of information regarding the history of Penang and answered our questions with genuine interest. As it was a very busy day due to being Chinese New Year's day, the wait for the funicular was over 3 hours so he managed to get us the last fast track tickets up to Penang Hill. We only then had a short wait so well worth the extra. The temple was interesting but again very crowded but we made the most of our time there. A fabulous trip which I would recommend thanks to Philip

Our guide Lawrence picked us up at our hotel in a mini bus, not the private vehicle we expected. However, we were the only two people on the tour. The tour itself was very good, with Lawrence pointing out places of interest as we travelled to Kek Lok Si temple. This was a very impressive structure, and Lawrence's explanations and information added to our enjoyment of the building. We then travelled to Penang Hill and boarded the funicular railway. Lawrence managed to get us right at the front of the train on the ascent and right at the back on the descent which were the best viewpoints for this impressive ride. We enjoyed Penang Hill very much, and would have liked more time to explore. After descending on the railway, Lawrence returned us to our hotel. Overall, a very enjoyable tour.
