We had an excellent family session with our instructor Ari Marttila. We were all almost intermediate level. He was super professional, very kind and friendly , showing our mistakes repeatedly, even using videos he shot for us. His teaching technique was also fun with very different games. I would definitely recommend Ari.

What can I say! My experience in Zermatt was priceless. Having a guide on my ski days freed my mind to enjoy the views and focus on skiing not a map. With so many runs and places to visit my guide Hugo was my map. I told him where I wanted to end up and what time and he lead us on the adventure. Hugo was our guide, Sherpa, lunch companion and tour guide! Highly recommended! 25 stars! Thanks Hugo

The instructor Ari truly deserves his reputation as a “Finnish legend.” He was incredibly kind, endlessly patient, and an outstanding teacher. My girlfriend had never skied before—complete beginner—and thanks to Ari, she now feels confident and comfortable on her skis. He explains things clearly, stays calm and encouraging, and makes the whole experience fun rather than intimidating. If you’re learning to ski in Zermatt (especially as a beginner), book Ari. You won’t regret it.

After having a few indoor lessons in the UK we felt like we knew the basics. Instead we spent the first hour of the lesson being shown where the cafe was and how to put on our skis... Skiing on real snow is quite different to artificial snow, so there was a little newness to get used to. We spent the lesson re learning how to pizzia (this is where my frustration really lays) and re learning how to turn. Now we have had a few tutors in the UK the most recent was a 1-2-1 with a guy that race skis competitively. He and other tutors explained to me that using pizzia to turn is just something to use in the begging and not much use in the real world once you got going. Ive struggled turning with pizzia since I started and skidding the skis on the turn seemed more natural for me on the way to parallel turns. I tried to explain this to the tutor from PDS and it was thats ok but your here now you are starting from scratch. This felt a very old fashioned and generic way to teach. Surely the point of a private lesson is to adapt the lesson to the person. This caused a little bit of frustration from me which just seemed to make my attempts at turning on a pizzia worse on the shallow slope of wolli park. My wife's a bit more of a nervous person and just didnt seem to get the confidence from the tutor. We both agreed to continue on after our morning lesson had finsihed, so we asked where would be good to continue. He rightly said wolli park and at my request suggested eisflu the next day if things went well. With repeat asking to go down a steeper bit of wolli park before the lesson ended as we found turning easier that way. We went down a steeper section once and to his surprise both of us found it easier than the shallower areas. In the afternoon after a break we had time in wolli park in the stepper sections and both felt like we were coming on along at an okay pace particularly as there was more room on the magic carpets ok the steeper sections. Wolli parks shallow areas were so busy we must of spent an hour on the magic carpet ( not PDS responsibility but if we had moved to the other areas at my request, maybe this would have been less). My wife decided to have the last couple of hours in the cafe, while I went down eisflus shallower entrance. After 3 attempts I was flying around confidently, using the training from our indoor lessons in the UK until the last run of the day. The next day I went solo as my wifes confidence was a little shot. I had an hour in wolli parks steeper parts, then continued on the eisflu for an hour practicing turning on the 2 steep parts of the shallow entrance start. After feeling like id learnt as much as I could on this I tried the steep entrance of the eisflu. Yes I fell but I kept thinking of the training id had particularly from my last tutor in the UK and by late afternoon i was getting down it with lots of turning on the 1st half and the confidence to just go strait down the last part of the start. It was half 3 and I decided to try the easy run of which I had tried to go down the previous day and realised it was far too much for me. The difference a day on my own had made was fantastic. I went down it feeling confident and incontrol. There was a very steep short drop about half way down which I had to skid down sideways. But I had a great time, felt safe and in control. I was reccommened 2 other instructors than the one we got. So id perhaps try PDS again as I found them via Simons Instagram page but perhaps be more persistent on the instructors he reccommened. It hasn't put me off skiing but my wife has said she would like considerably more indoor lessons before attempting it again.

Ari provided me with an excellent 3-hour private lesson where we worked on basic technique and parallel turns. The lesson went very well, and Ari was exceptionally accommodating and patient as I was a very nervous novice skier. I’d highly recommend taking one of his lessons at the beginning of your stay in Zermatt regardless of your skiing level.

We were in Zermatt for 4 days. A friend of my daughter’s works for PSD and had recommended them as having young dynamic instructors. I skied with Hugo for 4 days and 4 hours a day. He is a super star - a great motivational instructor - I had a thoroughly good time skiing with him and he improved my skiing in leaps and bounds. I highly recommend Hugo to anyone looking for a young dynamic ski instructor!

I did my first private ski lesson today with Ari and it was fantastic! He was very understanding and friendly despite me being late, and helped me carry my skis all the way. I can’t wait to book with him again. He is a great teacher and also a fantastic photographer! Thank you Ari ✨

Kaisa was a fantastic ski instructor and made a real difference to my skiing. Her English was excellent, which made communication easy. She gave clear, practical feedback and tailored her instruction to help improve my technique, especially focusing on areas that needed the most work. The lessons were both enjoyable and confidence-building, and I felt noticeable improvement by the end. I would highly recommend Kaisa to anyone looking to progress their skiing with a knowledgeable and supportive instructor.

Bozhin was a fantastic instructor. We arrived at the slopes feeling very nervous, but he quickly made us feel comfortable and confident. With his patience, calm approach, and great attitude, he turned the experience into something truly enjoyable. We improved a lot and can now ski and actually enjoy the ride. We still have plenty to learn, but we’re already looking forward to our next lesson with him the next season. Highly recommend!
