Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss: Iceland’s Iconic Waterfall Experience Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland’s most famous and picturesque waterfalls, located in the South Region along the Seljalands River, which originates from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. This stunning waterfall plunges approximately 60 meters (197 feet) into a serene pool below. What makes Seljalandsfoss truly unique and popular is the rare opportunity to walk behind the cascading water, offering visitors a breathtaking and immersive experience. As you take in the views from behind the waterfall, you’ll be surrounded by the natural beauty of Iceland’s rugged landscapes, making Seljalandsfoss a must-visit destination for travelers exploring the country’s South Coast.
Gljúfrabúi: Iceland’s Hidden Gem Waterfall Gljúfrabúi, often referred to as the “hidden waterfall,” is a stunning yet lesser-known gem located near the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland’s South Region. Tucked behind a narrow canyon, Gljúfrabúi offers a more secluded and magical experience for visitors. The waterfall, which drops about 40 meters (131 feet), is partially concealed by a cliff, creating a serene and mystical atmosphere. Adventurous travelers can access the waterfall by wading through a small stream or climbing rocks to get a closer view, making it a perfect destination for those seeking a more intimate connection with Iceland’s natural beauty. With its hidden location and unique setting, Gljúfrabúi is a must-visit stop along Iceland’s South Coast.

Semion was my guide for a 2.5-day solo tour covering the Golden Circle, Southern Pass, Reykjanes, and northern-lights hunting. It was a packed schedule, especially because we also squeezed in trips to the Blue Lagoon and the Sky Lagoon. Although the itinerary involved long days of driving (and waiting for the northern lights late into the night), Semion was unfailingly good company: He was energetic, upbeat, funny, and willing to help. To use just one example: We were off-season for northern-lights spotting, but I wanted to try looking for them anyway. Semion drove me around hours trying to find a good spot to glimpse an aurora. We lucked out, and it was well worth it. He was also knowledgeable and friendly: I learned not just about the sights we visited, but also about everyday life in Iceland.

The best tour I have visited so far in Iceland, I have never been on a private tour before and loved it so much. I will remember it for the rest of my life.

My sister and I booked a private tour of South Iceland and it was by far the best part of our entire trip. Sergey was incredibly accommodating, picking us up from where we were staying. The tour is a long one so thankfully Sergey has a very comfortable car and makes the drive fun and relaxing with fun facts about Iceland. He took us to some of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! He even brought us ponchos for some of the waterfalls so we wouldn't get wet! I cannot thank Sergey enough for making this such a memorable experience and for capturing so many awesome moments between sisters!

If you're looking for a safe, comfortable private tour where you are driven by a lovely man who explains what you are seeing and works out where you are going, look no further. My daughter and I loved this tour to the South and also to the Golden Circle. George was great and we felt like good friends at the end. The weather was cold even in August, so we were so happy to be able to jump in and out of the car when needed. Very happy with our tours and would recommend to anyone!
