Unique experience, not my favorite. Sitting in the back of a pick up truck with 8 others with no air conditioning was tough. We were given one bottle of water during the trip. While traveling steep bumpy roads it was difficult to hold on at times. The views were amazing, the history of island is great and our guide was fun and friendly.

We were picked up right at our villa on Matira Beach. Our guide/driver was excellent and easily switched between English and French to accommodate all of the group. The views of the lagoon from above were spectacular. We had not been aware of the 15 minute each way hike needed to get to the WW2 cannons, so that was a bit of a surprise. Thankfully the hike was fairly gentle and our guide brought water for us to rehydrate at the cannons. One note of caution: part way to the cannons we stopped and our guide picked a leaf from what he called a "lemon tree", though he said it doesn't actually grow lemons. He crushed the leaf and said that biting insects do not like the citron odor so people rub the leaves on their skin as natural insect repellant. Our guide did so himself, rubbing the leaf on his inner forearm. I thought nothing then of rubbing it on my skin. BIG MISTAKE! I ended up with a large red, blistered area from the leaf and subsequent sun exposure (phytophotodermatitis). Lesson learned!

Great tour and fantastic guide. Matainono was very knowledgeable and considerate of everyone in regards to Bora Bora's somewhat rugged terrain.

The guide Mata Nono explained everything to me excellently. He had great historical knowledge and explained to me many things that I could not even have imagined before. A great experience.

Very nice ride. Our guide Nono was very friendly, courteous and smiling. It's a very complete tour. Several photo stops. Many relevant comments on the geology of the island, the American presence, the various great hotels on the Motus, etc.

Tour was very enjoyable. Able to see many things on the island you would not see without a guided tour. Guide showed up just on time and did not give us details of what we would be doing but was friendly and a nice guy.
