5.00From start to finish, Mostafa was an incredible guide and a huge part of why this trip to Egypt felt truly once in a lifetime. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture, but what really sets him apart is his personality—he’s genuinely hilarious, engaging, and knows how to command a group without ever making it feel rigid or rushed. Mostafa was very efficient with time and super organized. No one was ever left behind, everything flowed smoothly, and everyone in our group was raving about how amazing the experience was. We ate great food, saw incredible sites, and I always felt taken care of and in good hands. The highlight for me was definitely the pyramids. Standing there with Mostafa explaining everything made the moment feel absolutely magical—one of those memories I’ll carry forever. Mostafa’s partner, Eslam, was also an amazing guide- very knowledgeable. A great duo!!! Thank you, Mostafa, for an unforgettable trip. I hope our paths cross again one day, and I would 100% recommend you to anyone thinking about visiting Egypt!

5.00This was an outstanding 4 day trip that combined ancient sites around Cairo, Egypt (Giza and Sakkara), with quieter, atmospheric moments in the Egyptian Fayum oasis desert and archeological sites (Valley of the Whales/Wadi Al-Hitan). We also visited the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo . If you’re planning this route, ask for Mostafa Abosaif as your guide — his expertise and care elevate the experience from excellent to exceptional. He was well-versed in Egyptian history and archaeology, explaining complex topics in an engaging, accessible way. We were about 50 people in a bus, guests to my son’s wedding in Cairo. We had an excellent time. The trip was well planned, with the tempo and places to see well coordinated. The places to eat were well chosen and the food excellent. The trip to the GEM was unforgettable. The museum’s modern layout is impressive, and includes the full collection of Tutankhamun’s artifacts —gold funerary mask replicas, exquisite jewelry, chariots, and intricately decorated coffins. Mostafa offered an historical context, as he did with everything else we visited, to understand with a certain depth what we were looking at. Again, if you are planning a visit to ancient Egypt and Cairo highlights Mostafa is your man. by CJR

5.00Mostafa and the Routes team led us (large group of approx 50) on a wonderful 4 day tour of Cairo and surrounding sites as a post-wedding event. The sites were curated and included many destinations, including major: from the Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, major Cairo Mosques, Valley of the Whales, Khan el-Khalili, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, to many minor sites in areas outside the city, including a visit to an agricultural community. Mostafa is highly organized and patient. He set an achievable but aggressive schedule, but was accommodating when needed. He was tested numerous times with this large group, and managed any disruptions with grace, patience, and understanding (including visits to the pharmacy, when needed). He and his team have a great sense of humor and are willing to flex to any schedule or preferences if needed. Finally, Mostafa and team explained or narrated much of our tour based on their very good knowledge about Egyptian history and the less obvious details of the sites we visited. If I have one recommendation for such a large group, it would be to ensure some down time is built into the schedule. There is so much to see and so many details to absorb, and a multi day itinerary can get very busy. This may be less the case for a smaller group. I look forward to our next trip to Egypt and putting our experience in the hands of Routes!
