Our hiking adventure with will last about two and a half hours, during which we will overcome the altitude difference of about 500 meters. A pleasant ride from your hotel takes you to the starting point at Mt. Orjen, where we embark on one of the most beautiful adventures during your stay in Montenegro. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful viewpoints and breathtaking nature. At the top of the ascent, we have the most incredible view of the day, the one in front of the church of St. Nicholas, which is located on a cliff above Boka Bay. After enjoying the heavenly view, the path through the enchanting Stone village leads us to a host who has prepared a traditional snack for us. 5.00We hiked the Starčevića Serpentine trail with Sasha and it turned into one of the best days of our trip. The trail itself is steep and rocky with endless switchbacks, but the views are incredible—forests, limestone cliffs, and finally wide open ridges with the Bay of Kotor below. What made the day truly special came at the end. Sasha brought us to Žlijebi, a tiny stone village on a plateau at the foot of Orjen Mountain. Everything in the village—houses, roofs, and even fences—is built from perfectly flat stone slabs that locals still quarry by hand just as they did centuries ago. It felt like stepping back in time. There we were welcomed by Nikola Sikimić and his family, who treated us to homemade rakija, local cheeses, cured meats, and pastries. The hospitality was as authentic as it gets—sharing food and stories in a village with history going back to the 1600s. Highlights: • The dramatic mix of landscapes along the hike. • Clouds drifting across the ridges with sea views below. • Visiting Žlijebi and learning about its stone-building tradition. • The warm hospitality and homemade food shared by Nikola and his family. Tips: Wear solid hiking shoes, bring water, and be ready for a workout. The hike is challenging, but finishing it with village hospitality makes it unforgettable.
