What To Expect
St Michael's Bridge
We start here with an introduction to the history of Ghent and the role the city played as a trading hub in medieval times. We also introduce you to the 3 towers of the Ghent skyline, which are best visible from this spot.
St. Bavo's Cathedral
We’ll tell you the gruesome story of why the beautiful cathedral is also known as the ‘Devil’s Tower’. (Entering is not part of the tour).

5.00Loved every minute! Isabelle is a great storyteller and a very cool person. She made it informative and lots of fun at the same time. In spite of the group being quite large, everyone was able to follow and enjoy it. Highly recommended!

5.00Our guide, Jerke, was absolutely amazing! He is knowledgeable, witty, and great with conversation. He let us ask any & all questions (even the silly questions). You can easily see how passionate he is about history and sharing his love for Ghent with others. We were able to see so much of the city center, and having the private tour allowed us to really dig into the history of the city. I hope we are lucky enough to have him as a future guide!

5.00We had the chance to do this Free Walking Tour in Ghent with Florian as guide, and it was a real pleasure! For nearly two hours, he captivated us with surprising anecdotes, well-dosed touches of humor and an obvious passion for his city. His enthusiasm is communicative and we see absolutely no time passing. The historic center of Ghent is relatively compact, which makes the walk very pleasant even for the less walkers. The tour allows you to discover the city’s emblematic places while learning about many historical and cultural details not found in a classic guide. Florian also takes the time to answer questions between stops, and speaks excellent English, Flemish and French – a real plus if you miss certain points. The organization of the tour is fluid, with an easy to find meeting point and a free contribution at the end. In short, if you are visiting Ghent, do not miss this tour!
