The Great Mosque of Kairouan
The Great Mosque is the symbol of Kairouan. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful mosques in the world, one of the most impressive monuments in all of the Maghreb! Its religious prestige makes Kairouan the 4th holy city of Islam. We admire its imposing minaret, its majestic courtyard of impressive dimensions, surrounded by superbly drawn arcades and sheltering a sundial, and the high doors of richly carved cedar wood. They open onto the prayer rooms, adorned with dozens of marble columns. Built in 670, this architectural masterpiece whose appearance evokes an adobe fortress has inspired other mosques in the Maghreb.
Medina of Kairouan
The medina of Kairouan is one of the most preserved and authentic in Tunisia, where you can take a look in the souks, taste the pastries of Kairouan "Les Mekroudhs" and its artisanal carpet making.

I had a wonderful time on this trip. The driver and guide were amazing. El Jem is just as good or even better then the Collosseum in Rome. Kairouan was a very cool and interesting city. Yahya my guide gave great details and even helped my purchase an authentic carpet. A great tour

The tour van picked us up on time at the Hotel. The tour guide, Ahamid, was very knowledgeable and informational when explaining and was very helpful throughout the tour. We happened to be the only two tourists showed up but Viator did not cancel the tour and proceeded which I appreciated.

Had a fabulous day with my guide Chaouky (one of a kind) and driver Maher. We left one hour earlier than originally scheduled to beat the crowds, which gesture I appreciated because it makes a world of difference to have the whole site to yourself as opposed to sharing it with 6 busloads of people. Indeed a long drive to the sites but Chaouky made it easy to stay awake by pointing out various things along the way (he's particularly passionate about the storks) and made the long drive not only informative but also fun. By the end of the day, I had a profound knowledge and appreciation for Tunisia's history thanks to Chaouky's guidance - his knowledge of the history of Tunisia and the way in which he incorporates the narrative to the specific sites made all the difference. Since I was the only person, pacing was up to me and I did not feel rushed, but Chauoky was mindful of how I was feeling the whole time - am I hungry, am I tired, do you want to see other things, etc. which is the whole purpose of a private tour. Driver Maher was also kind and a very good driver - I felt like a VIP being in his care. Highly recommend this tour to someone who really wants to understand the history by a fantastic and a experienced guide - would definitely book again.

Everything about this tour was outstanding. Our guide Yah-Yah (sp?) was extremely knowledgeable and provided lots of background information for each site we visited. He also gave us free time to explore on our own which we appreciated. The tour plan was good and we found the sites we visited very interesting. Our driver was friendly and a careful driver. It is a long day with much driving but that can’t be avoided. Overall it was a very enjoyable day and I highly recommend this tour.

Booked through the hotel. Our driver Manjee was incredible. Spoke fluent English and was so friendly that we didn't stop talking the whole trip. Local knowledge counts and he took us everywhere and more. Waited patiently for us at every site, helped with tickets and advised us who to interact with and who not. Each of the places were amazing and a real insight into Tunisia and it's history. El Jem is a must, bigger than the coleseum in Rome and in great condition.
