The Great Mosque of Kairouan
The Great Mosque is the symbol of Kairouan. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful mosques in the world, one of the most impressive monuments in all of the Maghreb! Its religious prestige makes Kairouan the 4th holy city of Islam. We admire its imposing minaret, its majestic courtyard of impressive dimensions, surrounded by superbly drawn arcades and sheltering a sundial, and the high doors of richly carved cedar wood. They open onto the prayer rooms, adorned with dozens of marble columns. Built in 670, this architectural masterpiece whose appearance evokes an adobe fortress has inspired other mosques in the Maghreb.
Medina of Kairouan
The medina of Kairouan is one of the most preserved and authentic in Tunisia, where you can take a look in the souks, taste the pastries of Kairouan "Les Mekroudhs" and its artisanal carpet making.

I recently took a tour with our Tunisian guide Baligh, and it was truly a fantastic experience. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor that made the entire day even more enjoyable. We visited Kairouan, El Jem, and Monastir together, and his explanations, stories, and fun attitude brought each place to life. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and engaged, and he was always happy to answer questions or help with anything we needed. If you’re looking for a guide who is both professional and genuinely entertaining, I highly recommend Baligh. This tour was one of the highlights of my trip!

What an amazing day! Loved the historical parts from Muslim and Roman era! Tour guide Bubu (Buthaina) was full of positive energy and cheerful which made the day even better. Felt like going with an old friend of mine

The grand mosque in Kairouan and the amphitheater in El Jem are not to be missed; impressive and with great history behind - I am glad that my guide suggested to visit the museum in El Jem and the Roman villas instead of Monastir; that made it for a more interesting and rewarding day - with Monastir it would have been too much running around. My guide was curteous and knowledgeable. The two negatives were the driving, especially when leaving the highway on the way to Kairouan which is a two-way road and at least once the driver overtook almost on a curve without much visibility - he would also drive above the speed limit on the highway but at least it was a divided highway; the other was that we went to see an old palace which was really a place which sells carpets - the guide should have explained this ahead of time. The person who was selling the carpets was quite persistent and in the end I bought a shawl so as to stop being pestered. These tactics don’t leave a good impression for such a wonderful country with genuinely nice people that I encountered in my trip.

Two must-see places in Tunisia. The Jem is something really awesome! And the tour allows you to see something of the country.

When travelling out of season the price is considerably more than advertised so I had to think carefully about booking ( more than twice cost of flight here and more than 4 night accommodation) but in the end I figured I won’t ever get the chance to see the places again and not being able to split the cost with others is no reason to miss out so - after much umming and aaahhing - I booked… The driver was early, polite, friendly and personable. The guide had excellent English - his knowledge of the history of each site was exceptional and the language was even conversational. All of the stops were interesting, the guide was engaging - the driver was very pleasant and one I had accepted the cost I could not fault it. And even the cost - it was a day for many sites with my own private driver and guide - I got to feel important and I gained so much from walking around with some knowledgeable. I am now looking at what to book with them tomorrow.

Wonderful tour, our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us super insights into not just the history of the places we visited but also Tunisian culture. We also had a safe driver and comfortable car just for ourselves. Highly recommend
