Fantastic experience but extremely hot May - September. Is it worth the hike there and back? Possibly not in the hot summer weather, but definitely in the cooler months. Amazing swims and views on the walk but doing it with a 4yo and a 6yo wasn’t much fun. The walk is about 45-60 minutes each way - at a decent pace and isn’t easy. It requires you to go over multiple boulders. The views are breathtaking at points and the swimming at the end is fairly straight forward if you’re a swimmer. What really lets this place down (and indeed most places in Oman) is the sheer about of littler (particularly plastic bottles!). TAKE YOUR RUNNISH HOME PEOPLE. From speaking with locals, it seems to be a huge frustration if most. I would happily pay and entrance fee for these sites if they were kept cleaner. Something to consider, perhaps? Also, consider banning disposable / single-use plastic bottles from the site completely!

What a stunning place ! we started our trip very early morning and took the small boatride to start our hike to the Wadi - the hike was awsum - we kept gawking at the rock formations and the water in different shades of green below. The hike is reasonably simple except for the boulders you got to climb and cross. But still a very enjoyable hike till we reached the first pool where we spent some time till we went to the second pool which was really pretty. Few of us stayed back while others waded through a long route to get into the caves. Ensure you wear the crocs you get on rent - though slightly uncomfortable but when its useful to wear them both in and out of the water. Secondly wear something lite and not bulky since there are no changing rooms. But u dont need one - ppl just start walking back in their wet clothes and they dry by the time u get back to the main square. Will always recommend this place as a must visit when in Oman !

It's an amazing place! To visit when it is not too hot because getting to the third place where to swim to the cave requires 45’/50’ of walking even in the sun with proper shoes. Swimming and entering the cave is an experience worth the trip to Oman!

A different experience. A couple of hours drive from Muscat. A small place to change up and a very short boat ride to cross the water body and then you go on a hike for about 30-40 mins to reach the wadi. Can swim to the farthest end which houses a small cave. Life jackets are available on a rental basis.

We were a family of 3 (aged 71, 67 and 35) visiting during Ramadan. We arrived at 7.30am to take the boat across to start the hike (they start operating the boats at 7am, contrary to all three internet indications that it's not til 8am). None of us found the hike difficult although my husband didn't like some of the drops to the side of the path in places. As others have said, the hike took less than 45 mins and in the early morning there was plenty of shade. It was a lot hotter walking back in the middle of the day. The pools were lovely but a little more challenging than we'd anticipated. We are all quite confident swimmers but wished we'd hired life jackets as it would have made the experience more relaxing and we would have spent less time treading water. The water shoes from the shop at the beginning were well worth having for 1 or 2 riyals each. We found the most difficult thing climbing out of the pools to get into the next one and crossing some of the exceedingly slippery rocks in the pools themselves. You really couldn't get any purchase on these rocks at all and I needed a fair bit of help at times. The entrance to the cave is small and we were only just able to get through with our heads above water with the water levels as they were but we wouldn't have been happy to enter if the levels had been higher. There's plenty of space below the water though so we weren't going to get stuck. Once in the cave there's nothing to hold onto which was fine for us as we were the only people there but I wouldn't have wanted to be there having to wait for people to come in and out without a life jacket. The whole trip felt quite challenging but we were really glad we'd done it. It's very beautiful and dramatic. Some reviews have mentioned the amount of rubbish in the wadi but really we didn't see any so maybe they've done a good clean up job. All in all, a very memorable visit but if you can't swim I wouldn't try going up through the pools. We didn't even consider hiring a guide but I think they were really helping people find the easiest ways through the pools so maybe worth it.

About 100 miles from Muscat, this valley bound by large sandy brown rocks and an oasis of turquoise green waters, plastered with date palms on the way in is a must see place. The trek takes about 30-45 minutes till you reach the waters where swimming/clambering up waters to reach a cave. Can get busy with tourists, so best to go a bit early as most tourist coaches reach there only by 10:30 am.

Ravine between Cliffs with Shallow green pools and abundant shade. You need to walk a lot or trek after a short boat ride . The views are amazing and if you want to swim it is the perfect way to swim and have a picnic

We did both Wadi Shab and Wadi Tiwi on the same day with our private guide Mohammed. Both Wadis are truly amazing and really beautiful. If you are in Oman, you have to visit these two Wadis. If you want it to be a perfect trip, call Mohammed. He is the perfect guide and is really helpful for both kids and adults and will make sure you get a fantastic experience. Been visiting this glorious wadi over the years. Remarkably the cost of the boat across has not changed in 20 years. Still costs 1 riyals per person for the return trip. Very busy when we visited this time, but since it is one of the most easily accessible wadis that is not really surprising. I would choose to visit early morning are late afternoon to avoid the crowds. Still worth it though for a great experience.

This was a cool place to see and check out! The sinkhole is a majestic work of art. The water is quite warm, but getting in is very slippery. You NEED water shoes - don't wear flip flops. They are not safe. It's very rocky and getting to the sinkhole can be hard on the feet. People with mobility issues should really think about asking for help to navigate the stones. Making a pathway to the sinkhole should be a consideration in the future. There is construction all around the sinkhole which made it a bit noisy. Not a lot of people were in the water as there are no REAL facilities to change. There are pop up changing tent structures that do not close, so have someone stand in front of it for you so that no one comes in. Bring a dry bag for your stuff. If you don't have anyone to watch your valuables, there's nowhere to store them.
