The museum displays artifacts, tools, and furniture that were used by the merchants, as well as information about the Hanseatic League and its role in the city's history. Schøtstuene, also known as the "Arrangement houses" were used as a meeting place for the Hanseatic merchants, they were used for business meetings and social gatherings. The Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene are located in the Bryggen area, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is one of Bergen's most popular tourist destinations.
