Our tour guide was Lee and he was perfect. He was super friendly, interesting and funny and knew all about All Creatures Great and Small - the new and the old TV series. We spent time in Grassington (Darrowby) and had a fun time tasting many of the cheese samples made there. We hit a perfect, mostly sunny day and saw all our favorite sites from the series. An added bonus was Bolton Castle. It is a huge partially crumbled down castle but with one tower still intact. You could choose a falconry show or go inside the castle. For the castle you didn’t need a guide and you could wander at will. There were some really fun places to climb up into. Several of the rooms in one of the towers were still intact and were decorated as to the period but it was mostly the castle as it is. My husband and I loved this part of the tour and felt like it was a double bonus day! We were only sad that we wanted to give Lee a tip and only had American dollars and didn’t know if that was . I wish there was a way to go back and get a tip to him. Thanks Lee for our favorite day in York!

The Dales tour was the highlight of my trip to York. Barry, our guide for the day, is an absolute gem -- he was very conscientious about every traveler and had a wealth of information to share at every stopping point. The landscape was breathtaking, there were plenty of stops for photos and plenty of gentle walking opportunities throughout the day too. The coach was clean and well-maintained and everything about the tour was easy and relaxing. Thank you for a wonderful day!

John was our guide on October 1st. He did a great job driving in bad weather, and narrating facts and historical vignettes into a coherent arc. I appreciated the word studies and etymologies he shared about place names. John was funny without making jokes, told uplifting stories, and added (appropriately) personal experience to establish context for some of the sites visited. We covered a lot of ground in the Dales. John’s patience with a bus of senior citizens, intelligence and creativity of presentation made the day enjoyably fun.

Ben was an excellent driver and a very friendly and personable tour guide. He had almost lexical knowledge, which he conveyed to his guests competently and understandably. Maybe a little break sometimes would have been relaxing for everyone, but the entertainment factor was very high. We would travel with him again at any time and highly recommend him.

The trip was excellent and insightful. Our tour guide/driver John was very knowledgeable and very articulate. Enjoyed his commentaries that made the dales and vales come alive for us. Yorkshire Dales are steeped in history and John’s narration gave us eyes to see. Wonderful trip!

Great trip through the quaint towns and wide open spaces of the Dales! Our guide and driver, Matt, exceeded our expectations in many ways. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, helpful, accommodating our requests and adapting the tour to our interests. In the few cases when he did not have an answer to a question, he supplied it at the next stop. We especially enjoyed his sense of humor!
