Following the Von Trapp story, we will visit several movie locations of the "Sound of Music". This includes a short city tour, the pond the children fell into, the 16-going-on17-gazebo and of course the wedding church. Your enthusiastic tour guide will give you lots of information about the filming of the Sound of Music, the real von Trapp family and Austrian culture and lifestyle in general.
On this tour, we will also take a detour through the Austrian lake district to visit the UNESCO world cultural heritage site Hallstatt. You will learn about the fascinating story of this salt mining town and get 2 hours to explore this picturesque village on your own.

5.00The small group tour is a great experience. The guide brought us closer to the filming sites with detailed explanation of the history of the locations. He also explain the differences between real life Von Trapp family and the movie. The tour feels more personalised than the big bus tours. Hallstatt is a beautiful town but it’s very crowded even in the low season. The cable car is closed during our visit. Overall a very good experience.

5.00This tour is everything you would want and more to maximize your time in Salzburg. The small group guaranteed we got all the Sound of Music photos we wanted. The drives were not too long and we had the perfect amount of time in Hallstatt. Our guide Marcus was a wealth of information- not just about The Sound of Music and Hallstatt but about Salzburg and Austria history, architecture, entertainment and food! Great tour all around!!

He flexed our itinerary with the weather conditions, was so knowledgeable and interesting to listen to, gave us plenty of free time to explore while getting us to all the pertinent sights on time. This was by far one of the highlights of our two week European vacation. Highly recommend!

He was knowledgeable, personable, informative, enthusiastic to answer all questions we had about Austria in an honest fashion and was happy to add insightes as a true local.

5.00I booked this tour back in May, so please pardon my overdue review! It was a rainy and chilly day when we visited Hallstatt and its nearby sites, but our guide remained incredibly enthusiastic and shared so many interesting insights about the area. The highlight was the charming café we stopped at toward the end of the tour — the coffee and cakes were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this tour — you won’t be disappointed. Thank you! ☕🍰

5.00I LOVED this tour! I went on the 8-hour tour for both The Sound of Music as well as to see Hallstatt. I thought that we had ample time in each place and I was able to get lunch and see gift shops. The private coach was comfortable and had air conditioning. We listened to our tour guide who provided facts about the real Von Trapps and we also listened to the movie soundtrack. We saw all of the filming locations including the house, the lake, the church where they get married, the gazebo, and many others. Hallstatt is also worth a visit! The boat ride viewing the city is something out of a fairy tale. It was a perfect sunny day and we had a lot of fun!
