We’ve all been told stories of glowing fireflies by our parents and grandparents, who made games out of catching them during their childhood years, and watching out for them at night during their youth.
Sadly, for most of us, these stories remain in their memories as the increasing number of brightly lit skyscrapers and waning number of trees have rendered these special creatures nearly extinct in urban areas. In some places however, their magic remains, and numerous tourists are willing to travel just to experience what it is like to dance with flying lights in the dark.

What To Expect
Puerto Princesa
The Firefly Watching Tour will start between 5:30PM and 6:30PM, when the air-con van will come to pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Princesa. The driver will take you on a 35 to 45 minutes travel from the city proper to the Iwahig River. After arriving at the wharf, you will take place in the paddle boat by small group and start your cruise to witness the beautiful sight of the fireflies illuminating the riverbanks of the Iwahig River. The tour takes place on around 1.2 kms of the river where the mangroves are located and where you can spot the sparkling and dazzling insects. During the tour, you will also get the chance to learn about the constellation of the stars, or about the glowing microscopic organisms, also known as plankton, which live underwater. The tour itself will end around 9:00PM – 10:00PM, when you will be dropped off at your hotel in Puerto Princesa.

1.00IT’S A SCAM….The worst experience ever. Watch out before booking with this tour operator. We have booked and paid for a tour with them and, they did not come to pick us up; from the hotel the recepcionist tríed to contact them and nobody answer the phone and the messages sent from the hotel. We will ríase a formal claim and demand for the refund. Shame that this kind of tour operators give this dire image from his country . FIRST & LAST TIME with VIATOR and this tour operator. Cheers
