What To Expect
Puerto Madryn Cruise Port
We leave from Puerto Madryn towards Punta Tombo. The penguin colony is open throughout the season from September to April, months where thousands arrive.
Punta Tombo
There thousands of penguins in their natural habitat move slowly, sometimes hundreds of meters, from their nests to the sea, to feed and then return; and in summer we will be able to see their newborn chicks. During the journey we will probably see herds of guanacos and groups of rheas, running through the Patagonian steppe, and maybe a fox or an armadillo.

5.00We knew up front that it was a long drive from the cruise port to the penguin sanctuary, but the roads we great and once we arrived, we practically had to place to ourselves. Our guide, Lukas, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and was very accommodating to our needs.

5.00If you want to see penguins you won’t be disappointed. You may also be lucky to see one of the types of llamas, rheas, sheep and other nature. It is however a long drive to get there, over two hours, and the same back. The guide was very informative making the journey seem less time. He spoke English and Spanish. A good experience if you have the time.
