Quba is a city in and the capital of the Quba Rayon of Azerbaijan. The city lies on the north-eastern slopes of Shahdag mountain, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level, on the right bank of the Kudyal river.

Visit Red Town- Across the Kudyal River from Quba is Red Town, the largest Mountain Jewish settlement in the former Soviet Union. Red Town is the only entirely Jewish settlement outside of Israel and the United States, and is the last surviving shtetl.

5.00This tour was an incredible experience! The scenic drive past the candy cane mountains was spectacular. The Red Village was a heartwarming window into the unique culture of Azerbaijan’s tribe of Mountain Jews. Ayrun resembled an enchanting forest, filled with friendly dogs. The majestic snow-capped mountains and plethora of fun activities made Shahdag Winter Complex a must-see, even outside of winter. One marvel was followed by another that even further exceeded expectations. The guide, Farhad, was not only extremely knowledgeable, engaging, gracious, and accommodating, he was also gentle-mannered, hospitable and a very skilled driver and storyteller. If you are looking for a special day trip from Baku, I cannot recommend this tour enough!
