Gibbston Valley Winery
The first stop of the day is at the iconic Gibbston Valley Winery. Gibbston Valley is one of the region's founding wineries and it's here that we will join a guided tour through New Zealand's largest underground wine cave and enjoy tastings of some of their world-famous wines.
Kinross is our second stop and a fantastic location to try a range of different wines across multiple labels. Along with producing their own wines, their cellar door host will also showcase wines from smaller producers and share their incredible stories of how they came to be. After your wine tasting, we allow extra time to enjoy lunch. Kinross has a range of delicious dishes on its menu, including pizzas, platters, smaller bites, and mains. This is ordered and paid directly on the day, giving you the flexibility to order what you would like based on your taste and budget.

We had a great day out with Altitude. We went to,4 wineries which was just about the right number for a day. The standout for me was Kinross where our wine advisor David gave us a great overview of the wines we were tasting and where we had a lovely lunch of a cheese platter. We were picked up and dropped back to our accommodation which made it very easy. Highly recommended

We very much enjoyed this tour, led by our guide Edita. It hit the balance of being both fun and informative! Initially I was concerned that the full tour (I think we had 14 in the van) would mean that our tastings would be crowded, however that was not the case. Edita also ensured that folks were able to make a quick introduction to each other, which offered comfortable talking points for the rest of the day. The four wineries we stopped at each offered their own unique experience in tasting as well as varietals of wine. The winery hosts were very expert in guiding descriptive and informative tastings. Tastings were generous and efficient. Our group was able to mingle and enjoy conversations at each of the wineries. Edita was adept at keeping our tour on schedule without making us feel rushed. She offered plenty of both local knowledge and information about the process of making wine. Time in the van seemed to fly by, despite the Queenstown traffic. Would totally recommend this tour to anyone looking for a broad sampling of the region.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our wineries tour. It is a fantastic way to get out and see the vineyards; hear from the growers/producers and meet some fellow travelers. Our guide (Chaney ???, apologies for the spelling) was excellent and shared her knowledge about Queenstown/surrounds (including great restaurants/cafes etc) that added to the rest of our stay. Highly recommended!

The first winery experience is not very good and should be replaced with a better winery. The final winery is set-guided. Would be better to have another guided tasting.

This was a great experience and highly recommend this - I am not a big wine drinker - my wife really is the one that enjoys wine - but the wines in the central otoga are fantastic. This was a full day - 4 wineries and lunch. Lunch is extra but the food was delicious. We ended up ordering a case of wine that we had shipped back to the US - the winery did everything - the cost of shipping was around $120 USD. Not much time spent in the van - our guide Katy was excellent - tolerating a lot of “tipsy” passengers blaring the music. This is both a tasting tour but also a great way to see this region. The venues were beautiful and the scenery amazing. Really recommend

The wineries were very nice. All of the wines were good. Their staffs were polite and enthusiastic. We had lunch at one of the wineries which was very good food. We met a good small group on our tour which made it more fun.

We had a fantastic tour of the wineries today with fellow travellers on our APT tour! Great wines, informative commentary , great lunch and the scenery was amazing! We had lovely people from America and Poland on our tour as well! A throughly enjoyable day. Our driver Ash was exceptional even playing some tunes for us to “sing” along to on the way back to town🤣 Thanks again Ash ! Best wishes from the Australians at the back of the bus!!
