The hopper is a bus service which drives between wineries allowing one to concentrate on favourite wine spots and not on driving.

Just to set expectations: this isn’t really a hop-on / hop-off bus. You have some flexibility within the group of 8 — if anyone has a must-visit winery, the group can usually accommodate it (our group was super flexible). From there, you travel together to each stop. It’s totally up to you whether you do tastings at each place, but bear in mind you’ll be waiting around while others do theirs. We were picked up from Queenstown at 12pm and got back just before 6pm. There’s not flexibility to return early. We did two tastings, a cave tour with a tasting, and finished at a really pretty outdoor bar complex. Overall, it’s a good option if you’re on a budget, as you can choose which tastings or activities you want to pay (rather than the more expensive tours where you are locked into the full set of tasting) Our guide was excellent though and taught us quite a bit whilst driving to each place. We got lucky that our group was super friendly, we all decided to stick together and get to know each other also.

Blake was an excellent driver and has a personality that made us relaxed. He drove us to a few wineries which helped him make further recommendations based on our comments.

I like the fact that our driver/guide asks us the wineries we’d like to visit as we get on a bus, and she plans our route based on that. I got to visit 4 wineries in total and all were great! I’d totally recommend this tour to others and will do this again for myself. Thanks to Clair, our driver/ guide who is friendly and informative for the efficient and enjoyable tour!

We went with T. (Teaukura), awesome tour guide, mediocre karaoke singer, but the spirit is there. Lunch was really good, u'd recommend the beef cheeks.

We came to NZ on our honeymoon and the wine hopping tour was what my wife was most excited for. Claire was amazing, personalized our tour, and checked in on us multiple times throughout to make sure we were having a great time. She arranged a luncheon at Kinross separate from the rest of the tour and that was an incredible experience. My wife never wants to leave Queenstown.
