El Yunque: Features a variety of waterfalls, natural pools, lots of vibrant flowers, tropical large-leaf foliage, pristine freshwater rivers, streams, and small non-threatening wildlife. This is the most popular guided hiking offer with transportation tailored for average to advanced hikers. You will be in contact with mud, water, and rock surface elements most of the time. Climb up to a well-placed rope swing, slide down a natural waterslide, jump from cliff edges into deep natural pools, and swim. These adventurous elements require manual dexterity and can challenge you when faced with natural obstacles. This is an adventure playground inside of the forest. It’s not all adrenaline as some opt to relax, meditate, or bathe more casually in the natural pools surrounded by nature. You will have lots of photographic opportunities. A tropical fruit spread is included as a tropical snack. Overall, this experience accommodates the adventurous spirit, nature lover, and WANDERLUST.

Hiking time: Approximately 4 hours in the Forest. Vehicle Travel and logistics time: 2.5 hours overall.
Proper Footwear: River trekking shoes with good grip in slippery, muddy, wet, rocky terrain
Proper attire: Quick dry activewear, bathing suit, dry bag to port personal items and keep them dry. Don't wear lots of make-up, eye-lashes, jewelry etc.
Protection Electronics: phone case with lanyard, camera's with cases or lanyard.
This trip challenges the average persons limits: Ideal participants are flexible, optimistic, and ready for a physically engaging adventure.
Bring a reusable sustainable water bottle! Plastic bottled water is offered as a last resort.
Not recommended for travelers with recent surgeries, broken or sprain limbs, or joint issues.

What To Expect
San Juan Metro Pick-up location at a supermarket. The driver/guide will meet the group here at this convenient centric location, check-in guests briefly and depart to the fruit stand. Max wait time 15 minutes for late arrivals. It takes about 45 minutes to complete check-in and drive to the fruit stand. Take advantage of this brief meeting point by arriving early for last-minute items: Deli Breakfast, acai bowls, coffee, atm, grocery, river water shoes, snacks etc...
2nd Meetup location on the way to the forest: This rustic fruit stand/ food kiosk, and gift shop is a local favorite for a 20-minute roadside quick stop. This planned stop for tropical fruit is purchased, packed, and later handled on the trail by the guide to be served as a Tropical snack. Guests having their car for transportation can meet up here with the group. Convenient Food stop: Grandma's cooking like ribs, rotisserie chicken, rice and beans, yuca, stews, seafood, and much more is available to handpick from a quick-serve window to place on to-go trays. Try the local fritters, alcapurria, empanadillas, along with a tropical fruit smoothie. This is a planned brief last-minute food and bathroom break opportunity for those climbing out of bed late and didn't get breakfast. You may want spending money on hand for this stop.

He adjusts to your pace, knows just the perfect spots so you get a very full and safe experience no matter the time frame or weather conditions, instantly makes you feel comfortable, and since he knows so much about the History and value of PR in general/El Yunque specifically, he allows you to feel one with what it has to offer and appreciate it all so much more. Magnificent, exciting, and very catered tour! Definitely recommended!

5.00The smaller group is definitely the way to go! So much more interactive than being with 30 or 40 other people. Terrance (our guide) shared his passion and experience for the area and the environment. I'm so happy we took the longer path that avoided all the larger tours - the rope swing and water slide both were fun, but at times it got crowded. Overall my fiance' and I had an experience we'll never forget!

5.00Terrence is an amazing person. He knows what he is doing. It was all new experience for me to jump in the water from 40 feet high. Water slides, rope jump etc. But Terrence was always encouraging to do something new. He is not just a guide he is a mentor too. I recommend all to take advantage of his skills and enjoy new experience in life.

5.00My group and I did the Rainforest + Biobay Fajardo Combo tour and had the best day of our Puerto Rico trip. Terrence is extremely knowledgeable on Puerto Rican history, facts about the Rainforest, wild life, and bioluminescenes in the laguna. Going with this tour adds a personal touch to discovering these parts of Puerto Rico. Terrence was extremely nice and helpful and even picked us up from our location and dropped us off. He made sure we were safe the entire time and provided us equipment if needed (life jackets, shoes, etc). He was also kind enough to carry a few things for us on the hike in his water proof backpack and took too many photos and videos for us to count (on his and our device if asked). Seeing many other tours with 10 or more people all doing the same thing really opened mine and my friend eyes into the freedom and wonder-ability we were able to have with Terrence. He was also extremely helpful in giving us advice on where to jump off certain cliffs, how to use the natural water slide and use the rope swing safely. Overall we couldn't ask for a cooler and better tour guide. We will definitely be coming back to Puerto Rico and going on another tour with him again in the future. If you want to have a time of your life that you'll always remember, book with Wanderlust Tours!
