It was our last night of our trip and we we‘re so glad we booked it. You definetly have to be patient to see the northern lights but whiel you wait there are many activities you can do: feeding the reindeers, ice skating, sauna. They offer warm drinks and something to eat as well. Make sure to cover up as it will get cold.

We booked this activity within a fortnight of our (already booked) trip as an extra activity. We were picked up from Ranua Resort reception at the correct time and transported to the frozen pond on a large sled behind a snowmobile. It was a clear night with no wind, and temperatures about 25 below zero. There was no-one else at the main site when we got there, so we went skating on the pond for a bit, then warmed up next to the fire in the large wigwam. We did some sledging on the nearby slope, ate sausage and marshmallows, fed reindeer, explored the area and saw the log cabin and sauna with ice hole (no thanks!). Our guide, Kalle, was really interesting to chat with about life in the area, and Lapland in general. We really enjoyed our time with him, and would recommend. He also kept a weather eye on the sky, and let us know when the Northern Lights were starting. It wasn't a particularly active night, but the location, with the pond to the North, meant that the Aurora was visible even when it was low in the sky, and may have been obscured by trees at other locations. We also used Lupland for another activity (Snowshoeing), which was just as good. Really impressed with the quality of staff they have, and the range of activities available. We'd be very happy using them again.

The most incredible experience of my life. I felt like I was in a fairy tale. It was incredibly beautiful and fun. We: - went snowmobiling - rode in a reindeer sleigh - fed the reindeer - took incredibly beautiful photos and videos of the Northern Lights and the reindeer - rode on ice in a special sleigh - warmed ourselves by the fire - roasted sausages, cheese things, and marshmallows - made coffee - were in wonderful company with interesting stories - they showed us a constellation that can only be seen there - they taught us how to determine the cardinal directions by the stars (so we can survive if we get lost in the forest😅) It was an unforgettable experience and the most wonderful night. I definitely recommend contacting Jari and visiting the Ranua Activity Park! Thank you, Jari!

I would love to recommend a snowmobile tour. Everything was organized at a high level: new, well-maintained snowmobiles, a well-thought-out route, and careful attention to safety. Guides are professional, friendly and very engaged, creating a comfortable and confident atmosphere throughout the trip. Got a lot of emotions and real pleasure from the winter landscape and the trip itself. Great experience, definitely worth a try.

Unfortunately it was absolutely not as I expected, we booked well in advance and regretted it because we had chosen the activity at the evening park, but the weather was cloudy (so no chance to spot the aurora, but we had counted this) and the park immersed in total darkness and sometimes disturbing. We were greatly surprised and disappointed in fact arrive with the snowmobile in the park and find a pitch black: no lights, torches, decorated trees, NOTHING. The guide, although really nice and easy-going, left us a bit to decide what to do but the atmosphere was bad so everything looked pale. We fed the reindeer but you had to turn with the torch on your head because otherwise you could hardly see them, and being wild animals it is not nice to approach without the place being well lit (you just had to bend or turn in another direction with the torch on your head that you lost the view even sideways). The frozen pond was not clear if it was usable or not for skating, the guide did not check in our presence but simply told us that “maybe it was not thick enough the ice”, so we let it go not to insist (except to see videos the next morning of people skating). To walk the reindeer we had to insist, otherwise we would have spent the whole evening in the tent because the only other feasible thing was the sauna but we were not interested. If you have seen the photos on their instagram, they sell very well: walks in the moonlight, oil lamps that illuminate the paths etc. .. well actually it's all completely dark, they had two oil lamps that they did not use and at my request they tried to turn them on but could not. The park from the photos seems illuminated by a certain light that I thought came from lighting installed on the edges but apparently either there is a full moon (and it is not completely dark the sky) or you will not see absolutely nothing. The only other thing that could be done was sledding but it was not proposed to us as well as, as I said before, the atmosphere was not the best: the guide, although very nice, seemed not to know how to make us pass the time if not eating .. surely it was actually like in the photos maybe we could do things even more independently. At this point the walk in the dark with reindeer was unfortunately not much, the animals did not seem to be very trained to be on a leash (rightly so at this point why put it as an activity? Just to fool people?); one in particular, she even got mad hitting my arm with her hoof without the guide noticing. I didn't say anything because I was a bit embarrassed and because he hadn't done anything to me, but it was very dangerous and the whole thing became more disturbing since you could see little. In the end we spent the time sitting in the tent chatting and eating a couple of sausages and a piece of chocolate; I think we were enjoying talking because we were even more than we should, in this respect I must say that the two guides were really nice guys and we were happy to chat. Unfortunately, however, looking back I have to be honest and, although on a human level it was a good experience, in fact we did nothing and it was completely different from what they sell on instagram! Maybe if you have kids during the day it's not bad to go, but I strongly advise against going in the evening because, unless you find miraculously the climatic conditions in which they take their photos and videos (slylyly I would add), and manage to turn on the lamps, it will not be the least comparable to what you expect. If it was lower the price I would have done well, but for 140€ absolutely not. Again, I am sorry for the very nice guides but people need to realize the reality.
