We had the 10am tour, nice big warm comfortable coach which takes you to the location, around 30mins drive. Upon arrival we were greeted by our lovely guide in full sami attire, the guide was lovely and we headed straight into a cosy teepee with a fire where they explained how the day would go, we were given coloured bands in groups to help differentiate those who had already completed their sleigh ride. The sleigh ride was fun although its more of a long sleigh train as its all connected its not an individual sleigh for each group which would have been nicer. It was sufficient time on the sleigh not too short they took photos of us at the end too. Afterwards we got to feed the reindeer freely and wander around large field/ enclosure where there are hundreds to feed and interact with, you can stay out for as long as u wish or if its too cold you can go into the teepee for unlimited hot drinks and cookies by the fire. Lunch was at 12pm we tried the veg option which was a bit like a tomatoe/minestrone soup it was nice. Afterwards at 12.45 we continued to gather round the fire in the teepee and listen to sami culture and stories and colonisation, it felt a little heavy for the type of excursion but can appreciate it was real life hardships for this culture. We finished with some traditional sami singing of Yoic which was fun, it was a good tour for what it was just not my personal favourite. Id reccomend doing this tour if you have multiple days but wouldn't make it a priority tour for me personally but definetley if you have time. Let me be clear it was not a bad tour just down to personal preference and I have done reindeer excursions in my home country too but it might be a different experience for someone who has never. Thanks again x

A fantastic and unique experience which I would highly recommend. The tour delivered on everything it promised including a decent sled ride, feeding time, a warm meal and then some Sami experience. Was pretty well coordinated, although I would appreciate some more free time. They were very welcoming with warm food and beverages. It was a slight bit crowded but still very well run. Our Sami guide was fantastic and she was super informative and engaging. We learned a lot and found it to be a good enriching experience connecting with local history and culture.

The sledging took place around the very large compound that the reindeer were housed in for the winter months. There was an opportunity to get up close with the herd and feed the reindeer and see their personalities come out. There were plenty of tents and cabins with log fires to warm up in through the visit and snacks and drinks laid on. The reindeer stew was really nice. The session on Sami heritage and their way of life was excellent and delivered by two young Sami girls who really knew there stuff and were clearly proud of their roots. To be recommended!

What a great day! Really easy pick up, just met them at bus station and they ticked me off the list and showed me to the coach, 25/30 min drive to place, get there we immediately started feeding the reindeer and I got a few pets in, then did the sledding, the reindeer stew was really tasty and I had like 3 hot chocolates coz I liked them that much, also had like 6 cookies, I really enjoyed the talk about Sami history and culture, Andreas was really lovely and informative and allowed lots of questions, left talk wanting to know even more it was that interesting, I’ve bought a book on Sami history so I can learn more.

Had an excellent time feeding and riding the reindeer along with a very interesting presentation from a Sami woman about their culture and way of life. The reindeer stew was delicious and the huts were very warm with nice fireplaces.

The reindeer are so beautiful! The sledding was a great experience. The hot food and drinks were plentiful. Our Sami leader did a great job for a young guy. It was great to learn the Sami history and culture. Dress as warmly as possible, I’ve never been so cold! Even with an open fire. The only downside was we had a cranky lady who organised us on the bus and the sled. She was very intolerant. From my own experience working in a similar environment, you have to remember that it’s everyone’s first experience and lifetime memories.

Having read other reviews I was very much looking forward to this activity. There were loads of people at the bus station with no clear indication as to where we were supposed to go or who et see etc. Eventually I found someone who checked off my name, gave me a coloured band and told me which coach to board. On arrival we had a quick briefing and then went outside. Those at the front of the queue with yellow bands went on the sled ride first while the rest of us with the same coloured bands went to feed the reindeer. We were given a bucket with feed in but, maybe because this was the afternoon tour, the reindeer weren’t that interested in it. They also had access to the feed in the feeding troughs. It felt like an age before I was told to go and wait for my sled ride. As a solo traveller I was asked if I’d share with someone else but, with 2 people, under a blanket, when you don’t know the other person is too cozy for me so I said no. The sled ride is extremely sedate and whilst fun for a few minutes it got a bit boring after a while. The scenery is lovely but you didn’t need to be on the sled ride to see it. The food that was included was delicious - I had reindeer stew. There was also a talk on Sami culture but the northern lights appeared so I opted to view these instead - they were the highlight of the trip.

This was a great experience. Very well organised from start to finish. All the staff were really friendly. Enjoyed the sledding and feeding the reindeer was fun. We were treated to a choice of hot drinks and cookies and then lovely stew. We found it really interesting to learn about the Sami people, their culture and the reindeers. In my opinion, great value for money and will definitely do it again if /when I return to Tromso.
