The reindeer and the Sami have been living and working on this land for centuries and they have only recently invited guests to be part of their daily life. You will visit their camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will swarm all around and some will even eat from your hands. You will then be invited for hot drinks around the fire inside a warm candlelit gamme (Traditional Sami Hut) where lunch, bidos, cooked over the open fire will be served (a traditional Sami stew which is often served at Sami weddings and other special occasions).
After lunch you will be invited into a lavvu (Sami tent) and gather around the fire to listen to stories about Sami culture and how it is to be a reindeer herder. The Sami guide will also perform a joik (traditional Sami song) for the guests.

Good activity. Nice to know the reindeer from close but I found the price very high for what it offers. I was hoping he would have more contact with Sami people and not just a member. The experience is more focused on feeding the reindeer. It was an activity that could even have a shorter duration, do not need if all this time. We liked it, but expected more.

I appreciate how there was no reindeer sledding offered and they emphasized that reindeers are meant to be free creatures that roam the mountains. The animals looked health, well cared for. Daniel’s explanation of reindeer herding allowed us to appreciate the Sami culture. Hot drinks during the activity were much appreciated

When we arrived at the venue, we were provided with bars with feed to feed the reindeer and we were able to replenish the content as many times as we wanted. We spent more than an hour doing this activity and it was more than enough. We felt comfortable and in no hurry. The reindeer are well taken care of and they warn that they do not usually like to gain affection, which minimizes leaving them stressed. After that we could have coffee, tea and hot chocolate at will, with lots of cookies available, as well as a soup of rhinoceros or tomatoes with well-fried vegetables. A Sami person told several stories and points about their culture that were very interesting and then we left back to the city. I highly recommend this tour as an alternative to trench rides

The experience with the reindeer was very cool and delivered everything promised. The Sami (Daniel) was very friendly and made the visit even more pleasant. The place is well organized and the food is good. The only negative point was the bus guide, who said absolutely nothing throughout the journey and the event. A little more interaction would have improved the experience.

We checked in for the approximately 4 hour experience at the bus station right across from our hotel. The check in process was very smooth, they divided the groups into 2 - depending on how long of a reindeer sleigh ride you signed up for. We signed up for the shorter ride, about 10 minutes, which was perfect for us. Otherwise, the experiences for both groups were identical, reindeer feeding with helpful and informative information on the reindeer and their raising, lunch that offered reindeer stew or a vegetable stew and an introduction to the Sami people and their culture. If you were cold or just wanted to rest, the heated huts offered hot chocolate and cookies before lunch. Our Sami hosts were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience - we are glad we went!

A magical experience! Discovering Sami culture and traditional singing was exciting and very rewarding. Feeding reindeer so closely was a truly timeless moment. And the meal around the fire, really cozy, warm and friendly. We leave with memories full of memories. I recommend with my eyes closed!

We had a great time among the reindeer, I was a little bit afraid of the visit of (big) group but really it was very nice. The welcome is warm, the explanations about the Sami people and culture are exciting. Recommend without reservations!

This was a last minute "add on experience" and I am so glad we did it. Learning about the reindeer was fascinating and feeding them, no limit to the feeding pellets, was a really fun experience. Talking with the Sami on the premise and learning about the Sami culture was very informative. I learned so much on this trip. I cannot wait to buy a book on the Sami culture. I hope to visit a Sami camp again someday.
