Words couldn’t explain how amazing this activity was!!! This activity really was the highlight of our trip, but our tour guide Gabi made it so much better. Gabi made this excursion feel like I was in a movie!! Words couldn’t explain the feeling. Gabi is also so knowledgeable about the favelas, we learned so much. She is so loved within the community so we felt very safe with her. I wish I could give this excursion 100 stars. Special thank you to Gabi for making this experience worth while. I’ll be sure to recommend this experience to other travelers!

Exciting. For my 15-year-old son the most beautiful hike in Rio. The most beautiful I don't know, but the truest, out of the lines sometimes funny, that definitely is. The tour begins with the climb to the top of the favelas on board the local mototaxi: they are widespread in the favelas and beyond, but they have a very very sporty ride with millimeter passages where you did not think you could pass at even high speeds. If you take it as a run at Gardaland or the carnival, it is pure fun! The road climbs a lot even with steep hairpin bends. 10 minutes of adrenaline. Then at the top you have a beautiful view of the Rio lagoon. You go down on foot entering the alleys with lots of stairs, bumpy streets with electric cables hanging everywhere, open sewers... nothing unexpected in a favelas. Having the guide you don't have the feeling of danger, but in some stretches it FORBIDS us (even in a very severe way) to pull out the cell phone from pockets or bags on pain of the safety of the entire group!..... reason? guns in full view, drug stalls, in short... widespread crime and the police do not enter... but you must not let out images of those places. Capoeira's show is superb: beautiful, good, precise, fast.... incredible. We really liked the ride, maybe we would have preferred to go a little slower, but cmq of stops were made and photos (where allowed) we could take. In between we also learned something about birth and life in favelas. They don't have much to do with African favelas, they are little houses, wrinkled, but already little houses (not mud huts), maybe unfinished, but they have their own dignity and where you could look at the interiors confirmed this impression. Then it is amazing how they can navigate that maze of streets and know that the authorities (all, not just the police) can not go in there. A world that must be seen. We are also very happy with this tour with the mototaxi, because it is the "main" means also for the local population, or at least for those who can afford it. Much much better and truer than getting into jeeps.... Doing the whole walk?....... the uphill slopes are really really challenging. To us after an hour of only descending between streets and stairs our legs hurt! One of those rides you can't miss in Rio. Why Rocinhas? because it is the largest favelas in South America, because it guaranteed the ride by mototaxi and we did overwhelmed!

Incredible experience that would indicate to everyone!!! In addition to the amazing views, we have a lot of fun on the motorcycle ride, the visit makes us reflect a lot on life in the community and on the importance of culture and social actions in the world. An extremely enriching experience for any human being! The guide was excellent - very excited and explained everything very well. My kids are small and have had the opportunity to play football with the local kids and they just talk about it! Ameiiii
