Walk With Me Savannah Tours presents 'Rising Voices', a Savannah history tour exclusively featuring underrepresented narratives and figures.
Historically too many narratives have been minimized or just left out of society's carefully crafted histories. Take a walking tour where we instead exclusively highlight those underrepresented voices.
We will focus on the lives and accomplishments of black, native, queer, and female residents of Savannah and how they impacted the world around them, in such a way that Savannah as it stands would not exist without each and every one of them.
Tours start in Franklin Square and conclude in Monterey Square.

Franklin Square
In Franklin Square we will discuss how Haiti volunteered during the American Revolution, clandestine schools that operated in Savannah that taught literacy to black students while such an education was outlawed, the First African Baptist Church which houses the oldest African Baptist congregation in the country, and its role in the Underground Railroad.
City Market
Passing through City Market, we will see Club One, the home performance venue of Lady Chablis, a Savannah LGBTQ icon. We will also see the building that was home to one of the most active markets for the selling of humans as property, which was immediately converted into a freedman's school after emancipation by some of the very people who were sold as property inside.

Our tour guide was not only knowledgeable about the lesser known history, but she was a hoot to talk to . She was wonderfully passionate about the history/subjects and did an excellent job of relating it back to today. Took about 2hrs. Able to sit on benches about half the time. Discussion and questions were encouraged. I highly recommend this tour to get some knowledge you might not find on the history channel or in the museum.

My family, with teenage kids, deeply appreciated this diverse city history tour. Our guide Sargon is supremely well versed in multiple aspects of Savannah's history. We learned things that we would not hear anywhere else. No question went unanswered.

Absolutely incredible tour!!! Sargon is a wealth of knowledge about Savannahs history and was able to easily pivot depending on the question we had at the moment, which we had many. Sargon also delivers the information in a very fun and story like manner so it wasn't just dry and boring information, along with giving as much detail about historical events and places as you could want. Having read about and listened to some of the other tours/tour guides this is a must do tour if you want something interesting, entertaining, and different from the information that you could probably just read in the footnote of a history book! When we make it back to Savannah we'll definitely take this tour again!

Is there a way to leave more stars?! This was such an amazing tour that excided my expectations. It was so refreshing to hear the sides of history that get overlooked and minimize in the name of status quo. Sargon was so insightful and knowledgeable of not just the stories but the whole of each person's life and the grater historical context. There is no greater experience than being shown Savannah by someone who genuinely loves learning and sharing history!

This was an excellent tour. Sargon was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide who told us about a host of historical figures from Savannah history who did some remarkable things you wouldn't normally hear about. Their lives and stories were both important and colorful. This tour is as engaging and different as Savannah, itself. I'd recommend it to anybody. When planning your day and/or parking your car build in an extra 15 minutes because the tour ends about half a mile from where it starts.

Great tour! The tour guide clearly has a passion for history and loves to share the stories. We found ourselves listening to every word because of her enthusiasm and angle of the underrepresented party. We would gladly take another tour she offered!

Excellent tour by Sargon. It’s great to see someone who is so passionate and knowledgeable at work. The stories were presented in an objective way and brought to light the stories of people who may have otherwise been overlooked. Highly recommend this tour

Really had a great time on this tour. Sargon the tour guide, was excellent. She knew so much of the lesser known heroes of Savannah's history. You can tell she loves what she does and wants to tell others about it. The walking tour took us through beautiful areas of the city with very nice stops along the tour. Highly recommend if you want to know about Savannah.

Our tour guide Sargon was so full of great information and stories. We spent 2 hours walking the city and hearing all the knowledge. We easily could have gone on longer with all that was going on
