You don't have to go to Rome to see Roman ruins, or even St Albans, Bath or York. Though people were all ready living here, it was the Romans who founded the modern city of Londinium that through the millennia has metamorphosed into today what is possibly the greatest city in the world.
This private walking tour will take you to little visited spots in the heart of the City of London where the remains of Roman buildings can still be found, hidden amongst all the skyscrapers of the 21st century.

St. Paul's Cathedral
We start off in the shadow of St Pauls Cathedral. There is a reason this beautiful cathedral is here and its much the same reason as why before then, it was home to a temple for the Roman goddess Diana.
The Church of St Vedast Alias Foster
A few feet from where we start at St Pauls, the old Roman Temple for the goddess Diana, we find our first Roman remains, hidden away from the street as well as something considerably older!

A great value! Our tour guide Kevin was friendly, told interesting stories about London’s history, and went at a perfect pace. You have to be able to walk for three solid hours without break, but the pace is reasonable. He takes you into some quaint and interesting areas that are off the beaten path, as well as hitting a lot of the big sites within/near Roman London. Bring your best walking shoes, a bottle of water, and prepare to have a great time!

This was an amazing tour and Kevin is a wonderful tour guide! He has an abiding passion for history and makes the Roman and Norman Saxon periods in London come alive. We visited incredible sights - some that are in plain sight but would be overlooked without an informed guide and others that are hidden underneath buildings and in parking garages! Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and his enthusiasm is contagious. He provided insights that were fascinating and answered my many questions. He helped me to appreciate more fully how genius the Romans were in their engineering feats and how much we owe to those who paved the way for later generations! Thank you, Kevin, for a fabulous tour!!! It was a highlight of my time in London..

Kevin opened the doorway for me to Roman London. I had downloaded several walking tours from the Internet but decided on Kevin instead. I’m glad I did. He not only took me to all the Roman sites in London but explained them in the context of Roman Londinium. Along the way I got a double dose of London history ranging from Dickens to the Blitz. Kevin is not only knowledgeable but very personable. He’s a really good guy. Take this tour, save yourself a lot of wandering down dead ends, see Londinium in a highly organized manner, and prepare yourself for a fun experience.

Our guide Kevin had boundless enthusiasm and knowledge. It was very interesting to be personally guided around on this long walk, and see many things we would not have known about - not only Roman history in London, but many other points of interest as well. Since it was just us and Kevin, he had time to answer questions and we never felt rushed. We also enjoyed his friendly manner and sense of humor.
