So. Much. Food. We ate well, we drank well, and the tour guide (Monica) made sure that my teenager was able to get nonalcoholic drinks everywhere we went. We learned about the history of each place, and spent time in a total of four locations. Money well spent – definitely book this tour.

Mario was a very nice and polite man, he told us information about every place we visited. He sat down with us at dinner and had a great conversation with the whole table about American culture and music. Mario is a very good tour guy and would recommend to everyone.

We did this local food tour in Rome with Sam as our guide. We had a phenomenal time. He had a wealth of knowledge on the history of the city and the culture of dining throughout the entire country. He shared with us tips and tricks about how to find authentic food while visiting Italy, as well as some of the methods that are used by Italians when cooking. Our tour was three hours, but it honestly went so quick. Though you end up walking about a mile and a half, the stops are spaced out evenly so it doesn’t feel like you’re walking very far. We chatted while walking between stops, Sam was making jokes and telling us anecdotes about the things we were passing. Additionally, he shared how we could access some good quality Italian products in the states. The food and wine was phenomenal. Everyone that we encountered at each food stop was extremely kind and accommodating. I had some of the best fish that I’ve ever had in my life. Overall, it was a wonderful time, I would definitely recommend this tour! Tips: I would recommend bringing a full water bottle. If you are someone with mobility challenges, a collapsible stool, as you are standing at most of the stops with the exception of the dinner stop.

Overall, this was a good tour and the food was amazing and we enjoyed getting to learn some of the things that our guide Monika had to share with us about the area… She obviously knew it well. We did not get some food items as described in the tour description (but also got some not described), but the food we did eat was very good and food from what the locals would eat. To give this to our five stars, I would’ve liked to try the suppli that was mentioned in the description as well as see more of trastavere. There wasn’t a whole ton of walking around and half of the food items we tried were on the other side of the river from trastavere so we didn’t spend as much time in that neighborhood as I would’ve liked to see. Monicka was amazing and knew a lot of facts about the areas that we did visit and the food we did eat was really good. The dinner we had included an appetizer pasta and Secondi course and if I were to give this more stars for the review for the tour, I would’ve liked to have all of those courses at different places. We are not wine connoisseur so we did try the wine at each stop but we’re not really familiar with if it was good or not. One of the stops before we got into Trastevere was not something that was Italian by tradition, but still something that the locals enjoy was a fried fish place and it was delicious. One of the things Monika said, even though she’s just a young adult was that she was going to be our Nonna for the day and make sure we were all well fed and had clean plates and she sure did that we were stuffed. If we coujd rate her separately would give her five stars.

If you want to learn about Roman history while having fantastic food then this is the tour for you. We ate classic meals and the story behind them. Our guide Oscar was able to share his knowledge and it was a great way to kickoff our Italian adventure .
