3.00it was very chaotic having one person organized three different groups at the train station. We could not hear her because there were too many people. Our guy at her microphone rub against her the entire time while she walked, and we cannot understand her. He did multiple trips in this was the only one we could not hear that guy because the way she used a microphone

5.00A guide makes all the difference. Pompeii is much larger than it appears. Our guide was fantastic in providing details and history of Roman life 2,000 years ago. It was good to walk the streets which such a rich history. After all that walking, it was good to sit down, relax, and have discussions with the other tour guest over local wines which were quite delicious.

4.00We had a good time on this tour overall. The train from Rome ran 45 minutes late- not at all the fault of the tour company but they handled it very well. Everything was seamless in that way. I'm not entirely sure what was adjusted in terms of the tour, though. Our actual time in Pompeii was very short- only about 90 to 100 minutes of actual time there (maybe because of the delay?). We then were taken to a vineyard in town and treated to lunch and a lavish wine tasting. It was very nice. This tour is not for those who want a really in depth experience at Pompeii. Our tour guide was lovely, but I'm not entirely sure she was an expert beyond the surface of what we saw. Please be advised that at the vineyard they will give you a price list with the hint to buy their wine. We did- and some olive oil, too- as it really was unique wine.

3.00The execution of the trip was exceptional. The trip guides were super nice but the quality of the tour was a bit lacking. We appreciated the information but have heard better stories. The content and detail of history has been presented better in past tours. We ended the trip with a lunch at a winery. Our host was very personable and funny but for the price, we received only a full pour of sparkling wine and tiny sips of 4 of the vineyards speciality wines. Some lucky received a second portion but i never did. Our lunch consisted of a small charcuterie board and a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce. We all thought there would be more so left a bit in the anticipation. Nope, dessert was a small pastry that could have been skipped and we were went on our way. All in all, this was a well orchestrated trip but lacking in detail and historical content.

5.00We enjoyed this tour and selected it for the convenience of the high speed train from Rome to Naples train station to meet our local tour guide Ida for the short trip to Pompei and 3 hour tour. Navigating the train system for the first time was much easier this way with the help of Fabrizio from Italia Tours. He was very friendly and welcoming and got us off to a great start! If you feel adventurous you can arrange your own transportation to Naples and begin your tour there, but it was nice to start meeting others in the group tour on our train ride over. The amount of time spent in Pompei was perfect, the crowds are much smaller in February and we did not feel rushed from one point of interest to the next. The history and details provided by Ida were very informative and she did a great job of painting the picture of what Pompei was like leading up to the eruption in 79AD. She was very respectful of the remains and the ruins. One of the highlights was being able to walk through a platform above the most recently escavated areas and those ongoing! Afterwards we went in a short bus ride to a local winery where we did a pleasant wine tasting and light lunch. Recommend having a large breakfast to maintain you during the day as the lunch was a sampling of charcuterie and a small bowl of pasta. They did offer extra pasta on the side. Getting to know others on the tour was the most enjoyable part of this second half of the day. Our return by train had us back in Rome in the early evening. I would not recommend making evening plans as you never know if trains will be delayed and it might be stressful to be locked in to plans you may not be able to keep. Overall, we would recommend this tour and if you are luck you might get Fabrizio and Ida as your guides!
