Secret Spot Hot Tubs is a stone’s throw from Rotorua, hidden in the heart of New Zealand’s mountain biking mecca, the Waipa Valley. Discover your own secret spot in the stunning Whakarewarewa Forest after your day’s adventures. You’ll find a place with great atmosphere and a warm welcome, where everything is beautifully handcrafted, from the western red cedar hot tubs to the craft beer and artisan coffee! Secret Spot has 12 hot tubs that are situated along the edge of the forest, overlooking the Puarenga Stream, and each hot tub is perfect for any group of friends or family up to 6 people.
You can also explore our unique café and bar set in a forest oasis with native plantings – we have smooth manuka-roasted coffee, Good George craft beer and cider, and Mills Reef wine. Have a bite to eat, play lawn games and enjoy our outdoor campfires, or unwind with a Shinny Dip foot hot tub, free with any drinks purchase.

What To Expect
You’ll find a relaxed atmosphere and friendly welcome when you discover our secret spot in the forest. We are all about connecting you with nature, friends, and family after your day’s adventures. Soak in your own cedar hot tub surrounded by native trees and ferns, while you receive tub-side bar service at the push of a button and complimentary cold plunge tubs. Our fresh (non-geothermal) water comes from a beautiful aquifer spring, which we heat to just the right temperature for you to enjoy a relaxing 45-minute soak. The tubs can fit up to six people and come with complimentary drinking water and lockers. You can bring your own swimwear, or we have swimwear, towels, and robes for hire. Check in 15 minutes before your booked soak time. Explore our unique café and bar in a backyard setting – we have smooth manuka-roasted coffee, Good George craft beer and cider, and Mills Reef wine. Have a bite to eat, play lawn games and enjoy our outdoor campfires, or unwind with a Shinny Dip foot hot tub, free with any drinks purchase.

5.00A delightful setting in a secluded wooden barrel hot tub soaking the stress of the day away. Live music was in the background. Cold drinks were available and delivered. It was perfect.
Just sat and relaxed and left feeling refreshed.

5.00We booked a hot tub in the evening while freedom camping across the road and it was exactly what we needed. The hot tubs are very private and surrounded by trees, you can just about hear if the one next door is being used but not enough to disrupt. So great to be able to have drinks delivered out to you in the tub too, a cold beer made the prefect companion to the hot water. The facilities are also lovely, rainfall showers and hairdryers make a additional great treat if you’re camping like us.

4.00The Secret Spot hot tub spas are set in beautiful quiet forest. Clean and well catered (you can order drinks to your tub) this is a good warm soak. There is a small stream running along the edge. Bird life was abundant. They are close to other sawmill road / waipa forest park venues from which noise does carry. These are far from being secret and bookings are essential. Our evening they were fully booked (we had booked two days in advance). Hints: They are not private secluded tubs and the nearby walk way can be busy.

5.00Being from Queensland there isn’t anything really like this, it has always been on my bucket list to do, and secret spots really out did themselves by making my dreams come true, my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the cold plunge as it was extra warm when getting back into the hot tub!! Would 100% recommend this and will be doing this again in a few days hehe 🤩🤩🤩

5.00This is our third time to the secret spot now and it is always an amazing experience. The service is great, the hot tubs are lovely and the facilities are always clean. The tubs are so relaxing and the outlook is peaceful. The added bonus is the live music today too.

5.00Beautiful location with modern, clean facilities and very obliging staff. The tubs are well spaced apart and individually surrounded by foliage. Walkways are thoughtfully designed and covered where necessary so that you can safely walk around barefoot.
