Journey to the historical Oliver Hill Guns and Tunnel Fortification on board the unique 64-seat Captain Hussey trolley train. This tour begins with a relaxing train ride passing some iconic and historical landmarks on the island. Then enjoy a 45 minute guided tour of the Guns and Tunnels - learn about the military history of Rottnest and the part it played during WW11.
Please note the Guns and Tunnels tour is a physically demanding 45-minute tour with approximately 700 metres walking and 240+ uneven steps (equivalent to a 8-storey climb). There are no rest stops and no backtracking once inside.
No carrying of children is permitted except for small infants in baby carriers (which allow the accompanying adult to have both hands free for the railings in the tunnels). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The tour takes place in enclosed tunnels - please watch for low ceilings, uneven surfaces and other trip hazards - and follow guide instructions at all times.

5.00Family loved the train ride to Olive Hill. Good way to see the salt lake, airport and coast line. The view from the top of Olive Hill is beautiful. The tour with Wayne was really interesting and kept our 10 year old and 6 year old engaged. Thank you to the volunteer tour guides! I would recommend the tour for adults and older children. The train ride is 20 mins each way and there is an option to just do the train ride. The tour was approximately half an hour.

5.00There is a LOT to see and do at Rottnest Island, but the train ride takes you through the interior of the island. The big guns to defend Western Australia in WW2 are still there to see, but the ride itself is worth the price!

5.00Very informative guides who are clearly passionate about their subject. A number of stairs need to be climbed in both directions so need to be physically capable of doing this.

5.00A fabulous tour for adults and kids. The train ride takes in the scenery with an opportunity for the kids to sound the horn and the Gunnery Tour was engaging and informative. There wasn’t a dull moment. Highly recommended.
