What To Expect

Depart Hillarys Boat Harbour on a morning ferry for your day out at Rottnest Island! After a lightning-fast 40 minute ocean crossing you will arrive at beautiful Rottnest Island. With an endless list of things to see and do, you have the freedom to plan your day as you go! Go to one of Rottnest's 63 bays and beaches for a relaxing dip. There is also the option to take a guided tour, hire a bike, or arrange a day pass for the shuttle bus that operates around the island - the choices are endless! Cafes and restaurants are located in the main Settlement area to purchase food, or pack a picnic lunch to take with you on your day out. Make sure to arrive back at the main jetty by 4:10pm for your 4:30pm return ferry from the island.

It was a beautiful day, and I had the chance to see unique animals like the quokka, as well as the Australian crow, whose deep, husky call sounded quite unusual. At the same time, it was deeply saddening to learn about the Aboriginal history of the island.

Great day, however the bar code you are given won’t allow you on the ferry .. you have to go to the ticket office to get a boarding pass.. so I nearly didn’t get to Rottnest !

We have travelled to Rottnest many times on Rottnest Fast Ferries. Never any issues, helpful staff at the check-in counter, easy online booking, ferry staff are excellent. It is great to have this service from Hillarys.

Really efficient service. Much easier getting the boat from Hillary’s as plenty of parking. Friendly crew on board. Air conditioning and comfortable seats or outside seating if preferred. There was a little bit of a wait in the return journey but we were on holiday so didn’t matter!!
