Gripsholm Castle
On the shores of Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland. Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537.

5.00Kate was a wonderful guide! She explained Swedish history in a way that was somehow interesting and made the castle and palace much more fun to tour. We are a family with 2 kids (ages 17 and 15) and we were all interested in the interesting stories she shared about Swedish royalty. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and drove a clean minivan to transport us. Highly recommend!

5.00This was a fantastic tour of two amazing locations just outside of Stockholm. Kate made Swedish history come alive. Not only were the locations spectacular but with Kate‘s knowledge, enthusiasm, and professionalism it took everything to another level. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to know a little bit more about the history of Sweden and see amazing historical places.

5.00Toured in March and it was cold but beautiful and sunny. Kate picked us up just as communicated and outlined our plan to visit the Palace and Castle. She personally led the tours first through the palace and grounds while sharing a wealth of history and inside stories about the monarchy. Due to time of year we were unable to go inside the Gripsholm castle but we toured the grounds and once again Kate shared knowledge and history of the castle.

5.00Great half day trip out of the city. Our tour guide was also our driver. Very friendly and informative. Gripsholm castle was my favorite. A lot of history which was interesting. The little ferry was a surprise. .

5.00Herman was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and explained what we were seeing! The tours of the castle and palace were wonderful. It was great to have a personal guide telling us Swedish history and describing events from long ago. Highly recommend this tour and Herman in particular.

5.00This amazing tour not only showed me Drottningholm Palace and Gripsholm Castle but so much of the beautiful countryside on the drive there as well as the ferry trip home. A very knowledgeable tour guide who made the day so interesting and informative and a wonderful driver with a magnificent singing voice. I couldn't have asked for more. I can highly recommend this tour to others who want to see more of the Swedish countryside and some of its beautiful historic buildings.
