What To Expect

A unique and special experience in Cartagena with a tasting of our own premium aged Colombian rum and artisanal Bolivar chocolate made in our factory. For almost two hours, you will learn about the production and history of our rums amid laughter and pirate stories. You will taste eight premium Colombian rums of different ages and origins, accompanied by an exquisite selection of chocolates made in house with the best Colombian cocoa from the Caribbean. You will also enjoy three savory snacks typical of the local cuisine, completing your journey through the flavors and aromas of Colombia. During the tour, there will be stories, fun discussions, and lots of laughter. It is important to note that this is not a class, but simply an opportunity to enjoy a few drinks, although you will learn a lot along the way. We were a group of 7 and loved our Private Rum Tasting with Sebastian! We tasted 8 rums and had a delicious cocktail as well that was Sebastians own creation. Passion Rouge! We got to learn about the local rums to Cartagena and Colombia and enjoy some chocolates/small tapas paired with them. Delicious! We mentioned checking on the chocolate shop afterwards and Sebastian was sweet enough to take us over and give us a brief tour of the small factory as well. Very much worth it!

We had a really fun and good experience at this lovely bar/restaurant. We had the rum tasting, our host was Wendy, a very competent and friendly woman from Cartagena. She explained all we needed to know about rum and we tried a lot of really good rum! 10/10 recommendation

Wendy was so lovely and fun! She guided us through the history and making of the different rums and cultural significance. We were served small additional flavours to compliment the rums.

This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Sebastian is an extraordinary rum expert. He taught us so much about the different rums - how they were made, tasting notes, history, etc. and the food and chocolate pairings with each of the different rums was delicious. Sebastian also made us his own signature cocktail “La Passion Rouge”. Yummmmm! El Arsenal is located in the historic Getsemani district of Cartagena and provides a wonderful break in your site seeing. Added bonus - you can purchase rums and chocolates to take with you.

Amazing and very informative experience! Sebastian (aka Sebas) was the best host to guide us through this adventure and perfectly paired each rum with yummy chocolates and/or food. Definitely a highlight of our first trip to Colombia!!

As a Francophone guide in Cartagena, I regularly taste rum with visitors. This Sunday, January 25, I accompanied a very charming Belgian-Swiss couple, amateurs and rum connoisseurs. Alexandra gave them an extraordinary tasting... interesting, fun with lots of details about Colombian culture. My customers loved it!!! And for me it was the best and most entertaining tasting since I started the job! Thank you very much!

I enjoy chocolate and good rum. As I age my palette has matured to appreciate top a good drink. Our host set the tone with an amazing upbeat personality and knowledge of Rum, chocolate and Columbia! Don't question it just book it!
