This is an in-depth tour of the history and beauty of the Sagrada Familia Basilica. Guadalupe walked us through the exterior and interior of the basilica providing an explanation of some to the hundreds of details carved into the stone of this amazing basilica.

Due to construction, locating the start of the tour was difficult. Matter of fact the “starting point” was removed. Additionally, the construction noise was so loud it was impossible to hear the guide speaking the first 15-20 outside. Would have been better if headphones were available before entering the Sagrada. Additionally, the group of 25ish was too large. Lastly, due to the guides accent she was often difficult to understand.

Sagrada Familia is one of those architectural wonders not to be missed if given the opportunity. Lupe(?) made the visit both enjoyable and informative, she was a wonderful guide who knew the historical context of the Basilica. First off, it is a busy place - as in real busy. Likely the most visited location in all of Barcelona. Give yourself plenty of time to locate your guide/tour group/leader - whoever you have chosen to provide a tour of the Sagrada Familia. They all tend to blend in with one another and if visiting in June/July/August timeframe; good luck. The intricate architecture and details of arguably Gaudi's greatest piece is not to be missed. I found it amazing that the successors to Gaudi's plans for the Sagrada Familia held true to his original plans. The depictions of Jesus' life envisioned by Gaudi and created within this structure are nothing short of amazing. Structurally, the exterior of the Basilica is huge. From within, the content and artwork is a beautiful testament for that which it was built.
