What To Expect
The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument
On June 11, 1963, Thich Quang Duc rode to Saigon from the war-torn city of Huế in an Austin Westminster. He stepped out of the baby blue automobile onto a busy intersection and sat calmly in the lotus position while a colleague poured gasoline from a five-gallon container over his head. Surrounded by a circle of protesters, burned himself to death. He described his intentions in a final note: “I respectfully plead to President Ngo Dinh Diem to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally.” In 2010, a memorial, displaying the monk wreathed in flames, was installed on the very corner where he died a half century before. Prior to the statue, which sits in front of a bas-relief depicting the powerful action, American journalist Malcolm Browne’s photographs were the most accessible reminders of the event.

5.00Awesome tour. Great experience - navigating the traffic, seeing some great sites. Mimi was fantastic - full of great historical and local information. The food was delicious, and so much of it. We had to choose to stop as we couldnt eat another bite. We saw the flower market & food street & several districts. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5.00Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed the 4 hour tour from 4pm with Nhu in the army jeep. He made us feel very comfortable and ensured we had every thing we needed, from cold bottles of water in the jeep to assistance for my Mum in hopping up and down from the jeep. Having the ability to ask questions, in a private tour was an excellent introduction to Vietnam, giving us confidence for the reminder of our trip to try different foods and better understand the Vietnamese culture. From Booking to final drop off at our hotel, communication was easy via WhatsApp, and Nhu’s English is very good. Thank you Nhu and the Saigon Foody tour team.

5.00Kelvin is the best! Very professional and knowledgeable, but also makes you feel like a friend! I enjoyed all of the sites on the history tour, and there was also two food stops involved. Kelvin also provided photos of the tour and recommendations of more places to eat at the end. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

5.00Nu, Hoang and Dat were so much fun to be with on this thrilling and delicious tour! Ate the most amazing street food and toured areas of Ho Chi Min City that we wold otherwise have not seen, nor tasted authentic Vietnamese food. This tour is one you should not miss - totally worth every cent!
