Salem Old Town Hall
A historic building in its own rite, as well as a filming location for the classic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. A fitting location for the start of the tour. Note: We'll stop at this location, we don't go inside.
John Ward House
Historic location. 330 years ago this is where the house of Sheriff Corwin, the High Sheriff of Essex county stood. In the scope of the trials he acts as the warrant issuer, interrogator, and torturer, amongst others. Note: We'll stop at this location, we don't go inside.

The gentleman who was running the tour was very knowledgable about history. He included some pieces that our other tour did not mention that were historically accurate, all while being very entertaining and funny. We left the group early because the others in the group weren't respectful and it was hard to listen and pay attention with so much distraction and noise- but he was wonderful as far as we were concerned. I would suggest doing the tour in the early morning- once Essex street is popping off there's so much noise and difficulty to hear and stay with the group. Please don't bring your very young children on these tours. They don't care or understand what is being said, will cause immemse disruption, and are really just overall destroying the experience for others. Please also be respectful of both the tour guide and the others who paid money as well. We felt terrible to leave but wanted to leave a review so the guide doesn't feel as though he had anything to do with it.

Such a good tour! Jeffrey was a great tour guide, and we learned so much about the Salem Trials from him.

There’s a lot of standing in place and not a lot of walking. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and animated. The standing in one place may be difficult on the back for older tourists.
