A good mix of history and interactive pieces. We enjoyed learning about the history of the samurai, the Japanese feudal system and getting to see, touch and experience samurai apparel and swords. Kyo was an excellent guide!

We were a family of 4 (daughters 18+) and had a great time, enjoyed learning from our guide about the basic history, seeing the exhibits with interesting personal stories behind, and having fun trying out costumes and shuriken throwing.

I preface this review with endorsement of our Asakusa experience as a 5/5 . However our experience at Shinjuku was most disappointing. The simplest of requests - to exchange a T-shirt (excellent quality) purchased at Asakusa yesterday, unopened and with a receipt, for an identical item but a larger size, was refused. Other staff were empathetic as we left for Osaka today and could not get back to Asakusa. However the woman at the gift shop who seemed to decide these things could not be reasoned with. If this is the firm’s policy it should be reviewed. If the issue is a decision simply made by the woman at the counter we certainly did not appreciate her ‘have a nice day’ on our departure. Disappointing as all interactions with other staff at both venues were excellent. They were helpful, eager to assist and a pleasure to deal with.

First time in Japan, the samurai experience was amazing, our guide during the session was excellent and funny, she was great, too bad it ended fast, I was thirsty for more cultural information.. Japanese culture is amazing and very noble..
