Absolutely recommend this experience to anyone that’s considering trying a martial art while in Japan. I’ve practiced martial arts for just over 20 years and was looking for an authentic experience while on holiday in Japan. Toshi is a fantastic instructor with lots of experience and makes it even better with his charismatic personality and encouragement during the session. I found it very well rounded with a great balance of history, explanation of the technical details of the art and how it has evolved to present day practices. While it is an introductory session, all of the details of the art are included such as Reiho, ashi sabaki, and the waza. Everyone had a ton of fun in the class and the time flew by in an instant. I being I could have stayed longer or done more sessions as it was extremely fun. Please check out this experience if you’re in Osaka and looking for an opportunity to learn some authentic martial arts training.

The Samurai Training Experience was one of the highlights of our trip! Toshi and the other instructors were extremely friendly and welcoming. They explained the basics of Kendo, starting with the philosophy behind the practice. We practiced some basic drills and then had an opportunity to try out a match. They were very encouraging and patient with all the participants and great with the children in the class. They thought of everything to make the experience more enjoyable, providing shirts and shorts for under the armor, water and snacks and green tea at the end. They also took some nice pictures and videos so that we could remember our fantastic introduction to kendo. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone going to Osaka!

Best experience so far on our 1 month trip to Japan! As a family of 4 with two young kids (7 and 9) we loved this class. Could not have asked for anything more from Toshi and the other staff. The time and care they put in to make this an amazing and fun session was unreal. Kids loved it, we all learned a lot and they even send through a full set of pictures and videos of your session afterwards. Kids are still saying it was one of their favorite days and we have to agree. Don’t hesitate to book this - it was so much fun!!
