The Samurai Training Experience was one of the highlights of our trip! Toshi and the other instructors were extremely friendly and welcoming. They explained the basics of Kendo, starting with the philosophy behind the practice. We practiced some basic drills and then had an opportunity to try out a match. They were very encouraging and patient with all the participants and great with the children in the class. They thought of everything to make the experience more enjoyable, providing shirts and shorts for under the armor, water and snacks and green tea at the end. They also took some nice pictures and videos so that we could remember our fantastic introduction to kendo. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone going to Osaka!

Best experience so far on our 1 month trip to Japan! As a family of 4 with two young kids (7 and 9) we loved this class. Could not have asked for anything more from Toshi and the other staff. The time and care they put in to make this an amazing and fun session was unreal. Kids loved it, we all learned a lot and they even send through a full set of pictures and videos of your session afterwards. Kids are still saying it was one of their favorite days and we have to agree. Don’t hesitate to book this - it was so much fun!!

Kumiko and Toshi were absolutely amazing. Toshi is a master of his craft. Truly left today with an honorable respect for Kendo and all that they do. Thank you all!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! Osaka,Japan Master Toshi and his staff are exceptional instructors and are very patient! I would advise this experience to anyone who has any interest in Kendo! They also provide a small amount of history the samurai and then kendo traditions which helps the uninitiated to context. Be aware that the entrance to the dojo is tucked away off of one of the smaller streets, but he was standing outside looking for all of his students that day. There is a limited amount of space for observers but you will be seated on the floor or standing.

This was such a fun and informative class! Not only did we get to learn some great samurai history and techniques, but we also got to wear the traditional outfits and spar each other as well. Toshihiko was incredibly encouraging, kind, and patient, and was an all around great teacher. Definitely a highlight of the trip!

The Kendo training experience was a lot of fun. Toshi was a great instructor. You get to the learn a brief history of Kendo, some practices they traditionally do and then do some matches.

We had a fantastic experience learning about sumurai, and how they changed from warriors to what is now the sport of Kendo. In our two hour experience, we got heaps of photos dressed up as Samurai, and throughout our kendo training. It was lovely that the hosts took photos and videos for us, so we could be totally immersed in the dojo. The hosts were so encouraging and friendly, and created a perfect atmosphere for learning and giving Kendo a real go. We went as a couple, and there were only 3 others there with us.
