One of my favorite zoos in the United States. We have been to a lot of zoos. However, I love the set up of this zoo. I love the interaction opportunities with the animals. Great staff. Everybody is accommodating. Love it!!!

We were in San Antonio for our son’s Air Force graduation. Have always heard that the zoo was great. Extremely disappointed in our visit. The zoo seemed very small and we didn’t get to see very many animals (it was hot). I feel like the OKC zoo is way better! They are cash free and you have to scan a QR code and buy tickets online ($140 for 4 people!) As soon as we walked in, someone took our picture and gave us a business card to bring to them to view our pictures…they took 1 picture. When we were leaving, we went to see it. They turned it into 4 pictures with 3 different backgrounds. Cost us $40 to get it, but I wanted it because it was a family picture with our son in his dress blues.

Nice zoo to visit if you have time. We spent a morning here, saw a lot. Could have easily spent a full day, but we only had a few hours to spare. Similar to our hometown zoo. Because we are members at our home zoo, we were able to show our membership card to get 1/2 off our admission at the San Antonio Zoo. The zoo is entirely cashless, so instead of scanning the QR code to pay the entrance fee, you’ll need to visit the very small office to the right of the entrance gates to show membership and pay your discounted cost. Absolutely ridiculous there’s a $5 online fee to purchase admission. I’m standing right in front of you. Not online. Price is reasonable with a discount, I’d be hard pressed to pay full price for a visit, especially if there’s more than two. Expensive for families. The gorillas were our favorite! Fun to watch! Very nice, huge facility! Did not realize at the time of visit that it is brand new, just opened in December 2025. Very popular! Take some time to visit!

Great zoo some exhibits were lackluster compared to other zoos like the lions, giraffes and elephants. But monkey and birds were plenty.

Nice zoo. Great spot to take kids while visiting. We were early in the year so some animals weren't back yet but we got to see a lot.

Too many empty exhibits. Some of the exhibits looked unkempt and unclean. All looking glasses were dirty inside and out. Water was so dirty we couldn't see the fish through the glass. We miss seeing elephants, tigers, lions, and chimpanzees. We did enjoy the birds and the aquarium.
