Our driver Marco picked us up at our hotel on time and gave us information about our trip to Volterra and on to San Gimignano. The van was cool and comfortable and we enjoyed the entire trip.

Nice day and the drivers are great but this is just a car ride not a tour. You are dropped at the city gates with zero guidance so plan ahead! Make sure you have done your own research and know what you want to do and where you want to go. We were disappointed as I thought there would be guidance. Lunch was at a very average spot-I’d ask for more time in San Gimignano and find lunch in a cafe. I love the area and it was nice to have someone drive us, but it is essentially a taxi service.

We had a wonderful time with our tour guide Massimo. He spent a lot of valuable time showing us around and sharing his knowledge about the history. Thank you Massimo!

My family and I have visited the Tuscan region many times. We were looking to visit an area a little further outside Florence. This tour fit the bill. We were able to decide how to split the time spent in both towns. We managed to include a quick wine tasting within the timeframe-a perfect day! Symonne, our guide/driver was very accommodating. He allowed us the level of independence we desired-while providing history and local knowledge. Know that the beauty & history of the region is well represented in this tour, yet the crowds are much, much less. This is a great way to see a bit of the countryside in comfort.

My wife and I arranged a private tour from our hotel in Florence to Volterra and San Gimignano through Chianti Drivers and Trip Advisor. We don't really like being herded around in large tour group and were basically looking for a driver who could take us to places we wanted to go and give us some useful general information about them. We could then explore in our own time and at our own pace. Our driver was Alex who was very knowledgeable, very personable did an excellent job. Volterra was a really beautiful and unspoilt town largely free of tourists. There was plenty of interest there and it was quite a relief to get away from the crowds in Florence. On the recommendation of our driver / guide we had lunch at Don Beta which was really excellent. San Gimignano was, of course, much more of a tourist destination but probably not as crowded in mid October as at other times. In spite of the bustling atmosphere it is still a remarkable place and well worth seeing. We paid over £400 for the day but we felt it was worth it as it was certainly a key highlight of our week in Tuscany and it would have been difficult to get to Volterra by other means.
