Our excursion is departing from Valencia city to discover the largest underground river in Europe declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.
An amazing underground labyrinth where the magic of nature comes to life. Stalactites and stalagmites intertwine in a stone dance, while vast rooms reveal the grandeur hidden beneath our feet.
You will: discover the origins of the caves, witness their evolution throughout the years, and behold the breathtaking views of the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park.
We will pick you up from the meeting points in Valencia and right after we will start our adventure driving to ''la Vall d'Uixò''.
After the visit inside the caves (1 hr approx) we will have 30 minutes free time to discover an Iberian Roman settlement (that has incredible views of the region), drink something, have a brunch or just take a rest at the natural area.

If your booking is a last minute one (made it from 07:30 p.m.-07:30 a.m.) your meeting point will be TORRES DE SERRANOS
The schedule is approximated, we will send a WhatsApp message with all the collection details one day before. Please write a correct phone number (if the phone number is invalid, we are not responsible of missing information) in case you don't have Whatsapp the activity provider will send an email through Viator.
If you do not leave the information of your favorite pick-up point, we will automatically assign you: Torres de Serranos.
Being late is not our responsability.
The duration of the activity (from the collection until we return from the caves) is 4h.
We will not bathe in the river in this activity.
Inside the caves there is a constant annual temperature of 20ºC.
You will have 30 minutes of free time to use bathrooms, bars and shops or just for relaxing at the area.
You can take your own food/drinks. But is not allowed to eat inside the bus.
You have included the transportation to go and return (same pick up point)
If you check out from your hotel, you can take your luggage with you. You must notify us to guarantee space.
You will be accompanied by an official guide (from Valencia&Go) who will tell you the essential you need to know about Valencia, as well as all the secrets that are hidden inside the Cuevas de San José, its incredible history and curiosities in detail (English and Spanish). Besides, on the boat tour you will go with a guide-boatman who will guide you along the way and will point out some key spots of the natural wonder. (could be in Spanish). If you have any questions, you can always ask the official Valencia & Go guide, he will be willing to answer them when you leave the caves.
For your safety: you can take photos only in designated areas. To protect the cave fauna, flash photography is not allowed.
For this regular tour, pickup at Trasmed-Grimaldi, Moll de Ponent, Poblados Marítimos, 46024 Puerto de Valencia is not available, as this meeting point is exclusive to a different product.

Great Caves, But Poor Organization and Unsafe Return Experience

2.00I booked a trip to the San José Caves through Viator for myself and my two boys (ages 4 and 11). The caves themselves were absolutely beautiful and definitely worth seeing — a really unique experience. Unfortunately, the rest of the tour had major issues. First, our tour guide did not speak English, even though we specifically booked an English-speaking tour. Because of that, we missed out on important information and history about the caves, which really took away from the experience. The biggest problem, however, was the return transportation. On the way back, the driver changed all of the drop-off locations without clear communication. We were originally picked up at Ciudad de la Justicia de Valencia, and the booking clearly stated that drop-off would be at the same location. When I questioned this, the transportation guide told me I was supposed to get off earlier at the City of Arts and Sciences — about a 15-minute walk from the original pickup point. Even though it was not the location I was picked up from. I asked if he could take me back to the original pickup spot, and he refused, saying it was “not his problem.” At that point, I was left in an unfamiliar area with two young children, about 1 hour and 30 minutes walk from my cruise port, with a strict boarding time of 7:00 PM. I contacted the tour coordinator for help, and instead of resolving the issue, I was told to take public bus #95 back to the port — which is not what I paid for. This situation felt unsafe and extremely stressful, especially traveling alone with small children in a foreign country on a time-sensitive schedule. I ended up requesting a full refund and they denied it. If you’re traveling solo and are comfortable figuring things out on your own, you might be okay. But if you’re traveling with kids, I would strongly advise against booking this tour due to the lack of organization, communication, and safety considerations.

4.00Was a perfect trip. Guide in English.(Mostly spoken Spanish.) The bus used was also not completely fine. (But we came back and forth. In the cave they only spoke Spanish and communication was not easy. But overall a good trip.

5.00Our guide Ferran shared a wealth of knowledge on the journey to the caves in a fun and entertaining way. The boat ride through the caves was exciting, you have to duck your head to avoid low hanging rocks, and at one point disembark the boat, walk through the caverns, and reboard the boat to continue the tour. Overall it was a great experience and I’m glad we booked this trip. I would live in the caves if I could. I yearn for the caves.

4.00The tour is as advertised, but I would have liked to learn more information about the cave from our boat driver. When the cave was formed, how it was formed, how old it is, who discovered it and when, etc. Near the cave entrance there are restaurants, souvenir shops, and free public restrooms.
