We’ll start at a bar that’s been a local favorite since the 1970s. Here you’ll try a selection of the best mussels in town with dry Basque cider. Master pouring cider from a height straight into your glass and learn all about the cultural phenomenon of “TXOTX!” This traditional stop will be your first introduction into what going out for pintxos really means in San Sebastian.
Next, you’ll dive into the fascinating world of Spain’s most famous delicacy: cured Iberian ham. We’ll introduce you to a family-run gem stocked with Basque and Spanish gourmet products. Try two of the most-renowned (and most expensive) cured hams especially chosen by our friend Sylvain. By the time we leave, you’ll have an understanding of the differences between them—and a favorite!

The entire tour is walking and standing. Not a lot of food or wine. Just tastes of cider and two wines. No beer. Lots of info and history about the. Basque Country. Our guide was very informative. More of a bar crawl than a culinary experience.

Our guide, Kaya, was super-knowledgeable and very kind. We went to her “favorite” places and she thoroughly explained the history of the bars and the pinxtos we sampled. Her info about the old town’s history was fascinating too. We highly recommend her as a guide and really enjoyed ourselves!!

Hector is an outstanding guide. He knows all his restaurants and treats them well. All the pintxos were delicious. Tried several wines, cider and sherry. He incorporates a good overview of the history of San Sebastián and the basque people.. We found that informative and enjoyable

This was an excellent food and history tour with Hugo. He was very knowledgeable and shared many facts of San Senastian and Basque. We had four food stops for pinchox, cider and wine. The food was amazing and the best ever! Very good and highly recommended with Hugo.

Small group, enthusiastic-young guide (George) who took us to 5-6 spots in the old town. Lite rain, but not a lot of walking. Toured really built, with a mix of food and drinks, ending with cheesecake!

We took this tour with Gorka, who was the most fantastic guide! We learned so much about the Basque region and the culture - we got a real local’s insight from Gorka. The food and drink we got were all delicious and high quality - with so many pinchos bars to choose from, this is an excellent way to experience some really good ones that are recommended by locals. We also made some nice friends on this tour - Gorka made it a really fun social experience!
