Mackinac Island has been called the queen of the Great Lakes for centuries. On this self-guided cycling tour, you'll follow a circular route around the island.
As you take in the island’s beauty at your own pace, you’ll delve into its history, from quite recent to ancient, and everything in between. You’ll find out how a single woman took on the powerful John Jacob Astor fur empire, how Fort Mackinac played a big role in the American Revolution, and how the War of 1812 forced the Americans out of the fort.
This tour isn’t all history. You’ll see big geologic wonders like Arch Rock, and little ones, too, like the Devil’s Kitchen cave. We’ll take you to a hidden gem on a tiny nature trail, and let you in on a dirty little secret about the wonderfully clear water surrounding the Island. You’ll also get to know who lies buried beneath the altar at St Anne’s church (and why), and learn about the most important subject on the Island: who makes the best fudge.

Map is very confusing and cannot keep up with the GPS and find our location on Mackinac Island. It was hit and miss whether we heard anything or not.

Unique and beautiful island once you escape the crowd of the port and the main shopping area. Grew up in rural areas, so horse manure and urine is not an abrasive smell or sight for me. However, constant dodging it is not how I wanted to spend my vacation. Overall, the island was worth a day trip, and that box has now been checked.

I found this tour a great way to see the island. Riding 8 miles around the island seemed like a lot for us. But taking this tour made it easily doable as we would stop frequently to hear the tales and facts about the island. The island is expensive to visit, but this tour was a bargain compared to the other tours and well worth it.

What a great way to tour the island!!! At your own pace and not having to strain to hear the guide. Easy to set up with your phone, very user-friendly even if you’re not tech savvy. And such wonderful little tidbits coming from the locals. Definitely a must-do!
