This era of nouveau-riche American elites like the Vanderbilts and Astors has been marked by gorgeous mansions. We'll explore the architecture and architects behind these designs as drive. 4.00At first I found this audio tour hard to navigate. It would start, then go silent, then start again even if I paused it. If you decide to go out of order (we wanted to backtrack for lunch), it was hard to resume the tour. Finally figured out that the silence was temporary as you are between points of interest. Perhaps some music or something to fill the dead air would be more assuring the tour is still on and following your whereabouts.

5.00A relaxed, self paced tour of Newport Mansions and surroundings. It was raining and foggy our first day in Newport, so we couldn’t see much. Fortunately, this tour allows you to stop and return at your convenience. So, we were able to do the whole tour the next day when the weather was clear and dry. And we saw so much more and enjoyed doing it at our pace. A great tour concept.

4.00It was enjoyable and interesting. It was neat the way it knew where you were and which story to read. There were a couple of times that it talked too long and told you to turn either AT the turn or just after so you missed your turn and had to circle around and find your way back to the route. That was frustrating and would be way worse if it were busier time of year.

3.00You need to upgrade to navigate people to the start of the tour. Once we got to a point where the gps picked us up we were fine- but getting started was annoying.

4.00Had a very good experience with this mobil self tour, it connected well with the car audio/navigation system, informative, and yes it may take a few minutes, miles to get use to, but worked well once we figured it out. First time I used Action Tour Guide, but will not be the last, specially if you have a rent a car, why pay for a a lot more expensive trolley tour, when you can drive yourself, and stop as you pleased.
