This scenic tour will depart Napier, following the coastline before heading inland to follow the beautiful Tukituki River with stunning views across the valley and the Havelock North hills to Te Mata Peak.
You will then cross the river, heading past Craggy Range winery and into Havelock North before starting the exhilarating climb, almost 400m, to the top of the Peak with spectacular, 360-degree panoramic views of Hawkes Bay and on a clear day as far as the volcanic Ruapehu!
Climbing a mountain on a V8 trike can be an experience to remember, great for celebrating birthdays or that special occasion.
We spend approximately 20 mins at the Peak before heading back down through the orchards and vineyards.
Napier does not have a cruise passenger terminal so all passengers a required to hop on the free shuttles into the city, the second stop is the National Aquarium which is where our cruise tours depart from.

Napier operates free shuttles from the ship to the city

This is not a full commentary tour, due to the nature of the trike there is no commentary while we are travelling.

What To Expect
Napier
Head out through Napier and along the beautiful coastline.
Te Mata Peak
After a scenic drive through the beautiful Tukituki valley, you will climb to the top of Te Mata Peak where you will have approx 30 minutes to soak up the amazing 360-degree views. You are welcome to bring a blanket and something to drink while stopped on the peak.

5.00What a thrill!! We had soooo much fun riding with Phil on his Supertrike!! You get to feel the wind on your face and enjoy the surrounding scenery. It was really fun to watch people stop and watch us go by them. It is worth the money and then some. Highly recommend this ride.

5.00The Scenic Te Mata Peak Supertrike tour was honestly one of my favorite parts of our two-week trip. Riding in the open-air trike made the whole experience feel adventurous and unique. The drive itself is incredible, taking you through beautiful countryside and up toward Te Mata Peak, with amazing scenery the whole way. The ride up to the top was an absolute blast, and the views from the peak were stunning. You get incredible panoramic views over Hawke’s Bay and the surrounding landscape, which made the whole experience really special. Our guide was fantastic too — the perfect balance of being chatty and sharing interesting information while also giving us time to just relax and enjoy the ride and scenery. It never felt rushed and the vibe was really fun and easygoing. A couple quick tips: bring a scarf or face covering you can pull up over your mouth because the wind can get strong during the ride, and definitely wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience and easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re visiting Napier and want something a little different with incredible views, I highly recommend this tour!

5.00We had an absolute blast on the Supertrike in Napier! The ride was very comfortable and exhilarating. The view was spectacular and what a unique way to get to the summit of Te Mata Peak. Certainly unlike anything we've ever done before. Hold on to your hat! We highly recommend this tour.

5.00This excursion was fantastic! The ride was a lot of fun, and even better with only 4 passengers. Phil was very personable and gave us a little history of the area. Highly recommend a jacket with a hood and sunglasses. One of our favorite excursions on a 14 day cruise. Highly recommend and it was a great value.
