This tour offers 2 different kayaking options for you to choose from: Seal Kayak tour and the Sunset Kayak Tour. It is the first kayak tour in New Zealand to offer hands free kayaking. Now with the largest human muscle group in play, kayaking becomes easier and more efficient than ever.
Come get up close and personal with the New Zealand fur seal as they play around and under your hands free pedal kayak. Taking photos/selfies have never been easier now you can capture all your moments without stopping!

What To Expect
An exciting adventure to the New Zealand Fur Seals around the beautiful Kaikoura peninsular on New Zealand's first and only pedal or paddle kayak tour.

Seal Kayak tour
All Seal tours are guided with a 100% chance to see the New Zealand fur seal. The seal kayak tour runs for 2.5 - 3 hours.
Sunset Kayak Tour
The Sunset Kayak tour is my personal favourite with still a 100% chance to encounter the New Zealand fur seal it the best way to Finnish your day in Kaikoura.

5.00We booked a sunset tour but alas the sea was just too rough so we had to rebook for the next morning. I know that making these calls are really difficult for tour operators but I appreciated Charlie’s commitment to safety and to a positive experience. We were able to rebook for the next morning and what a lovely experience it was. Charlie was knowledgeable and just a terrific tour guide! The kayaks are so easy to use that you don’t even feel like you are working. The entire experience was so relaxing and pure fun. We saw dusky dolphins and the seals on the rocks and a jelly fish and a petrel bird right up close. It was just pure fun!

5.00We had a super fun afternoon kayaking between the seals and dolphins. The kayaks are genius. No paddles but pedals to move forward. A very nice system that keeps your hands free to take photos and videos. You need those free hands because there was a spectacular amount to see. Seals 50 cm from the kayak. Dozens of dolphins who did somersaults for our kayaks. We spent two and a half hours on the road with two guides. Those guys were very friendly and relaxed. In short....a very nice trip that we recommend without further ado.
Absolutely worth doing while visiting Kaikoura!

5.00I had an awesome time with Seal Kayak Kaikoura -- they use really cool pedal kayaks by Hobie Cat. As an experienced kayaker i was a bit skeptical if this would be enjoyable... it TOTALLY was... we had some viewing of seals sunning themselves and even had a bit of viewing Dusky Dolphins! The hands-free kayaks were super comfortable to use even heading into the wind and/or waves, and made it easy to take photos. The guides (Charlie & Logan) did an excellent job educating on the mammals and showing us a great time-- highly recommend this team if you ever visit Kaikoura !

5.00A truely excellent time had by all !despite my initial misgivings..the family were all on board from the outset but I was definitely going outside my comfort zone but now I am so glad I did it with the help & expertise from r wonderful guide Bailey..so knowledgeable so motivating & so funny!thank u so much guys for a great family memory!

5.00I had a great day out seal kayaking in sunny Kaikoura! Connor is a fantastic local guide who told us lots of interesting facts about the wildlife and Kaikoura. The pedal kayak definitely enhanced the experience and we got to see plenty of fur seals up close. Would 100% recommend.

5.00We had such a blast with Logan! He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area and knew exactly where to go to spot them. We saw a couple pods of dolphins, a bunch of fur seals, and lots of sea birds. We also loved the style of kayaks. You peddle with your feet to move instead of paddling the traditional way, and it was very easy to steer. This allowed us to have our hands free to take photos and videos which was great! I am confident we wouldn’t have seen as much wildlife or had as great of an experience had we of went kayaking on our own without a guide. I can’t recommend this adventure enough!

5.00Logan our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing tour getting to see quite a few fur seals (including some that got right up next to us!), a large pod of dolphins, and albatross. Even without the wildlife it was a beautiful day out on the water with amazing views of the snow capped mountains. Pedal kayaks made it easy to take lots of photos and were easy to use.

Our guide Connor was really nice and knew a lot of things about the region etc It was nice and different to kayak with the legs ! 😉 Thanks for this gym session by the way 😂 We saw dolphins and seals : it was absolutely incredible ! The weather was stunning so a perfect day to be in a kayak ! Thanks for this lovely moment 🙏🏼☀️
