Michaelmas Cay
Located 22 nautical miles (40 km) from Cairns, the same as the distance across the English Channel, and close to the outer reef systems, Michaelmas Cay is the largest of the uninhabited coral cays in the Cairns region; in fact it is huge in comparison. Seastar is the first vessel to arrive at Michaelmas Cay. Very few tour vessels are now permitted access to this sensitive island and now there are only two which travel daily that are permitted the right to use and access the Cay.
Outer Great Barrier Reef Snorkel Tour includes luxury catamaran cruise all equipment and two guided snorkel tours

Small friendly operation. The crew were very knowledgable and helpful. The first stop at Michealmas Cay was a perfect mix of snorkelling with a trip on the glass bottomed boat. The second stop at Hastings Reef was just beautiful, we took advantage of a snorkelling tour with one of the crew, allowing us to find spots we probably wouldn’t have found. 10/10 experience.

My spouse and I are seniors of differing swimming abilities and no snorkeling experience. We had a great time. Together we saw animals and fishes, coral and crustaceans and even birds we never could have seen any other way! The leadership was knowledgeable, helpful and considerate. As a person with a disability I wasn’t even sure I could do this. With their help, I had the experience of a lifetime. Do this tour. You won’t regret it.

We had a wonderful trip with this family owned business. We really appreciated the attention to detail of the crew and their safety focus. I appreciated the extra attention given to my mother who needed a lot of assistance in the water. They made a dream come true for her and I cannot thank them enough - particularly one young lady who was so compassionate and helpful. Lots of time in the water and the snorkel guides did a wonderful job pointing out and explaining different sea life and coral beds. This is my second time snorkeling here and this company was far and away better than my other experience.

My partner and I were travelling with my father. We have all always dreamed of seeing the Great Barrier Reef and we could not have chosen a better crew and boat to help fulfill that dream. The crew were super friendly, very helpful and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. They were all of them a integral part of the day's success. We loved the opportunity to visit TWO destinations, each with a distinct character. I still can't decide whether I preferred Michaelmas Cay or Hastings Reef. As I understand it, Seastar is one of only 2 operators who visit Michaelmas Cay and because their boat is fast and leaves relatively early, we pretty much had the cay to ourselves. The smaller group (a maximum of 36) made the experience all the more pleasurable. At Hastings, we were the only group! At one point, it felt as though I had the reef to myself! A truly memorable experience and I would highly recommend Seastar to anyone looking to make their Great Barrier Reef dream come true!

The captain and crew on SeaStreak are awesome. Meticulous about safety and comfort, knowledgeable and passionate about the GBR. Michaelmas and Hastings reefs are about 32 miles out, which sounded daunting but the sea was calm. I was probably the most nervous passenger of 36, and with a vest and float to grab one of the crew gave me an unforgettable underwater tour. I was with my husband and another couple and all of us raved about the incredible experience. This was absolutely the best!!!
