Great trip. Horses behaved beautifully. Recommend you visit early during high heat days. It was getting hot by the time we finished our morning ride. Our guides did a great job getting us all mounted and ready to ride and shared interesting stories along the path.

It was our first time going horse riding and it was awesome. Our horses Kat and Ranger were amazing and calm. The guides were very helpful and professional, they even retrieved my mom’s hat that flew off from the wind. Would recommend. Have fun! Caution: very hot, wear sunscreen and sun protection.

The manager sent a text before the riding adventure to let us know that the tour was full. He sent an option of a private ride later in the day as to relieve some of the stress of a full booking. We were unable to accommodate the time given. We arrived 30 minutes early and received instructions for the horses. Six riders were not there at this time. When the people were mounting the horses a family of six, four young boys arrived. Rather than turn them away, the cowboys had to reassess the order of the horses and the experience and weight of the riders for fourteen people. They were cordial, kind and fun loving in 95 degree heat. As if holding up the tour and missing instructions were not enough to push everyone to the limits. This family went across the street to the bathrooms. The tour started 18 minutes late. All the guides did was make the time enjoyable by telling jokes and stories. They asked the riders questions and achieved turning the irritating situation into a good time. We learned about the horses and their background. My daughters had some riding experience so they were not bothered when a horse kicked at another because one got too close. Horses have pecking orders and personalities. They had a great time on the 1 1/2 ride. They learned about trees and available resources. They four young boys were placed on lead leads to the guides within the first minute on the trail because they were not in control of the horses. They had no riding experience and did not attempt to hold the reins. The guides gave them private instructions when placing them on the horses. Safety was a priority! The guides joked and were easy going but so professional and keen on protecting their horses and riders from injury. We’d highly recommend this for anyone in the area as a great way to see Cottonwood and experience the nature. Later we took our jeep 4-wheeling. Our grown daughters joked about they would rather be back on the horses, it was a better ride! If considering booking with children, make sure your children can execute handling the reins, kicking the horse to go and pulling back in the reins to stop the horse. This was the top activity for our family of our vacation!
