In keeping with many of great lodges built under the direction of the National Park Service, the historic Lake McDonald Lodge has a European Swiss chalet style, crossed with a rustic hunting lodge - though that seems a contradiction with Park values today. Advanced reservations (through NPS) are highlighly recommended if you want to stay overnight, but day visitors are welcome in the restaurants, gift stores and general store. The lobby houses taxidermy collections of mountain animals on its walls. Activities, horseback rides and lake cruises all depart from the lodge.

5.00Purchasing this Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour for Glacier National Park was so worth it! As you drive through the park it tells you interesting history about the park. It wasn't too much, but just the right amount to really be informative. You don't need a map, this guide tells you everything there is to do in the park. And information is given to in advance, so you can decide to stop and explore or keep going. It's just a great way to explore the park. I plan to use for other parks we visit as well. 10 out of 10!!!

5.00This was a great way to tour the park. As the other reviews mentioned, it was informative and light. We were apparently driving a little faster than the often unposted speed and the audio ended early and another started. Audio was timed to the speed limit. We were concerned that the gps would not work without cell reception, which is the case throughout the park, but it worked perfectly! From what I have read of the negative reviews, it appears that most of those reviews that these people did not read the part that says you must download and activate the app before getting into the park. You need a solid internet connection to do this! We purchased the app tour through Viator and we had a credit with them, so I tried to use it to purchase. Apparently there is a glitch in their system which caused me to need to spend $1 for the app and use credits for the difference. No big deal, but the Viator folks didn’t understand and told me I couldn’t use the credits to book this. I don’t believe this should be reflected in the star rating since Viator is a separate company.

5.00It worked as expected, just know you have absolutely no device once you are at the mountain even the bottom so you need to download prior to arrival. Very informative, worth the money and driving on our own.

5.00Was amazed at how good it was. Excellent narrator. We were warned ahead of each feature on the road in plenty of time. Lots of history and interesting trivia. Worked on our cell phone even without cell service through GPS location tracking. So be sure to “allow” when the app asks if it can access your location. It was like having our own guide sitting in the back seat of the car.
